🌿 “Learning how to integrate psychedelic experiences can teach us how to work with profound experiences more broadly.”

Clients don’t only encounter moments of deep connection, love, or self-transcendence through psychedelics. These kinds of experiences can arise in many contexts—and are often left underexplored or simply become part of personal history.

In this clip, Jason Luoma, PhD discusses how learning to work with psychedelic experiences can offer clinicians a framework for helping clients integrate other meaningful, non-ordinary experiences—from loss, to connection, to pivotal life moments—so they can become lasting sources of change.

In this upcoming ACBS Pre-Conference Workshop, we explore how ACT can support preparation, dosing, and integration in psychedelic work. ✨

🌿 In this clip, Miranda Morris, PhD, and Call Trevenen, LCPC, reflect on how self-loathing can emerge through a confusion between our experiences and who we fundamentally are.

They explore how painful emotions, difficult thoughts, physical suffering, and histories of mistreatment can begin to form a coherent story about the self — especially when the mind treats these experiences as evidence of personal deficiency rather than experiences we are having.

Over time, patterns like isolation and withdrawal can further reinforce these beliefs, creating a cycle in which suffering itself becomes proof that the story must be true.

Rather than framing self-loathing as an inherent reality, they highlight how these conclusions are often learned, reinforced, and mistaken for identity.

🌿 “How do we help people make the most of experiences that can be life-changing?”

Psychedelic experiences are, by definition, often unusual—and without a clear framework, it can be challenging to support clients in translating those moments into meaningful, lasting change.

In this clip, Miranda Morris, PhD discusses how the EPPC model, grounded in ACT, can help clinicians work with these experiences in a way that supports clients in truly benefiting from what emerges during psychedelic journeys.

In this upcoming ACBS Pre-Conference Workshop, we explore how ACT can support preparation, dosing, and integration in psychedelic work. ✨

🌿 In this clip, Miranda Morris, PhD, and Call Trevenen, LCPC, reflect on the difference between having a thought and becoming identified with it.

They explore how many people are taught to treat thoughts as inherently meaningful or revealing of who they truly are. In that context, experiences like “I’m not enough” or “people would be better off without me” can become frightening not simply because they are painful, but because they are interpreted as truth.

Rather than viewing thoughts as definitive reflections of the self, they highlight a different possibility: relating to thoughts as experiences we are having, not identities we are. Just as feeling cold does not make someone “the embodiment of coldness,” having a difficult thought does not define who a person is.

🌿 “We’re often trained in harm reduction—but not in benefit enhancement.”

Even if you’re not sitting in the room for a dosing session, many clinicians are already working with clients who are preparing for or reflecting on psychedelic experiences.

In this clip, Jenna LeJeune, PhD discusses how therapy has traditionally emphasized harm reduction in this space—and why it’s equally important to consider how we can support clients in enhancing the benefits of these experiences through preparation and integration.

In this upcoming ACBS Pre-Conference Workshop, we explore how ACT can support preparation, dosing, and integration in psychedelic work. ✨

🌿 “Taking a psychedelic is not a passive act.”

Meaningful therapeutic benefit from psychedelic experiences involves active engagement with the process—and this highlights an important role for therapists in helping clients sustain and build on the changes that emerge.

In this clip, Brian Pilecki, PhD discusses how clinicians can support clients in understanding their psychedelic experiences and translating those moments into lasting change over time.

In this upcoming ACBS Pre-Conference Workshop, we explore how ACT can support preparation, dosing, and integration in psychedelic work. ✨

🌿 In this clip, Miranda Morris, PhD, and Call Trevenen, LCPC, reflect on the painful assumption that other people are doing okay in ways we are not.

They explore how easy it can be to mistake outward appearances for inner experience — especially in a culture where many forms of suffering remain difficult to speak about openly. Because so much pain stays hidden, people can begin to believe they are uniquely struggling, uniquely broken, or alone in what they carry.

Rather than minimizing suffering, they highlight something deeply human and often obscured: most people are moving through some version of shame, grief, fear, loneliness, or self-doubt, even when it cannot be readily seen.

💫 As psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) moves toward broader accessibility, this two-day ACBS pre-conference workshop offers clinicians a practical acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) framework for understanding and talking about PAT with clients.

The trainers are clinician-researchers who have worked extensively with ACT and psychedelics in clinical trials, retreats, and psychotherapy settings — bringing real-world depth to the material.

If you already work with ACT, you’ll likely find this a natural extension of what you know. And if ACT is newer to you, don’t worry — the approach is clinically intuitive and designed to be useful right away, without requiring extensive prior training.

🌿 Topics include:
• What the latest psychedelics research says — and where the legal landscape stands
• Risks and benefits across substances (psilocybin, M**A, ketamine)
• How psychedelics may support psychological flexibility
• ACT-informed approaches to preparation, dosing support, and integration
• Diversity, equity, and cultural humility — including access barriers for underserved communities and risks of cultural appropriation
• Practical tools for having informed conversations with clients in clinical trials, legal settings, or integration-focused work

The format mixes didactic content, case examples, and experiential exercises — so expect it to be engaging, not just informational.

🌿 When and where?
• Friday, June 5 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET
• Saturday, June 6 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET
• Virtual (recordings available through June 25, 2026)

🌿 “What’s often missing in psychedelic therapy training is a coherent, process-based framework for understanding what’s happening.”

Psychedelic-assisted therapy has drawn from many different traditions over time. While that history offers valuable guidance, clinicians are often left without a clear, evidence-based model for conceptualizing the processes of change that unfold during and after dosing sessions.

In this clip, Jason Luoma, PhD, and Jenna LeJeune, PhD discuss how ACT and the EPIC model offer clinicians a practical, process-based lens for understanding psychedelic experiences—and how this framework can help support integration so that powerful insights become lasting change. They also highlight how the EPIC model can feel like a natural extension for clinicians already familiar with ACT, while remaining accessible to those newer to the model.

In this upcoming ACBS Pre-Conference Workshop, we explore how ACT can support preparation, dosing, and integration in psychedelic work. ✨
