Since its founding in 1992, the TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) has funded more than 375 grants resulting in research published in more than 90 peer-reviewed journals. Our program serves nursing professionals and all patients by funding research that advances nursing practice and technology. TSNRP was the creation of a group of Army, Navy, and Air Force nurses who believed a central ag
ency would enable military nurses to conduct more effective research. Recognizing that military nurses play a critical role in the health and welfare of the military population, Congress appropriated funding for nursing research in 1992. TSNRP was fully authorized in 1996 under Public Law 104-106, Sec. 741. TSNRP’s mission is to provide resources for the conduct and use of research to foster excellence in military nursing care. Our goals are:
■ To expand the cadre of military nursing researchers.
■ To provide infrastructure to stimulate and support nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice.
■ To promote research on areas unique to the military and critical to the health of military members and on developing science to enhance military nursing practice.
■ To expand the breadth and depth of the nursing research portfolio by encouraging and funding programs of research in TSNRP’s focused areas of investigation.
■ To foster partnerships for collaborative research.
