Love Is Blind… but make it therapy. 👀
Instead of proposing to a stranger after 10 days…
what if you spent 10 days understanding why you feel like you need to?
Why the urgency, the anxiety. Why you mistake chemistry for compatibility.
Why being alone feels intolerable.

If you’ve ever believed you’re “too much” or “too needy”, it’s time to start learning about attachment.
Attachment is about nervous systems, early experiences, and the patterns we repeat without realizing it.
Before you marry a stranger, maybe learn your attachment style.

Netflix, I’m ready.
Would you watch a dating show where people had to understand their attachment style before getting engaged?

Stress is meant to be short-term, like hitting the gas pedal to avoid danger. But what happens when life keeps you in "go mode" and your body forgets how to slow down?

Chronic stress and complex trauma are like driving a car with your foot on the gas and never touching the breaks. Eventually, something wears down.

You may experience symptoms like
• constant shoulder or neck tension
• headaches or GI issues with no clear cause
• feeling on edge even when life is “fine”
• trouble sleeping or fully relaxing

You've probably been to your doctor, only to receive the infuriating feedback that you need to reduce your stress or go to therapy. But talk therapy hasn't worked. That's because you can't think your way out of a problem you felt your way into.

Somatic Therapy and EMDR strengthen the breaks, helping you rewire old patterns in your body and brain, releasing stored stress and bringing you lasting relief.

Potomac Behavioral Health still has a few spots left for new patients in February. Book a free consultation today.

Have you heard RFK Jr.’s claim that a keto diet cures schizophrenia and bipolar disorder?

Trump’s secretary of health and human services wants you to eat more protein. Why? Because he claims a keto diet can cure schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

While there is research that shows preliminary promise on the mental health benefits of a keto diet, there’s no known cure for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. There ARE known cardiovascular risks to a keto diet.

Have you ever tried a keto diet? How hard was it to maintain?

Ever see an ad for apps or websites that claim you can do EMDR on yourself?

In all seriousness, please don’t do this. Meditation apps are great, but leave the trauma work to a trained professional. Trying EMDR solo can be dangerous. Trauma processing can cause panic attacks, dissociation, or self harm. It’s more than just watching the ball float across the screen.

Did you catch Robert Kraft’s superbowl ad?

If your coworkers have been talking about the ad around the water cooler and you’re still not sure how to feel, you’re in good company. The ad was well intended, but lacks some critical nuance and may have inadvertently contributed to viewers’ trauma.

What’s your take?

So WHAT exactly is EMDR?

Sandra Bullock explains exactly what happens in an EMDR session and how it helped her unlock patterns of behavior that kept repeating.

Have you ever had a problem you could think all the way through but you couldn’t get your feelings or behaviors to change? EMDR gets to the root of those feelings, helping you reorganize mentally around challenging experiences.

EMDR is the gold standard for trauma treatment, but can be used for so much more. Attachment repair, depression, anxiety, and phobias can all be effectively treated with EMDR.

Does bipolar disorder explain antisemitism?

This question comes up a lot when a public figure makes harmful or hateful statements and also has a known mental health diagnosis.

Here’s what’s important to understand:
Mental health conditions like bipolar disorder can affect mood, energy, impulse control, and judgment. They do not create hateful beliefs or prejudice. Antisemitism, racism, and other forms of hate are learned attitudes, not symptoms.

We can hold space for mental health struggles while also holding people accountable for the harm their words and actions cause. Compassion and accountability are not opposites. We can hold these two truths at the same time.

Blaming hate on mental illness doesn’t reduce stigma. It actually increases it, and it distracts from addressing the real issue: the impact of antisemitism and the need to challenge it directly.
I’m curious how others think about this. How do we talk about mental health responsibly without using it to excuse harm?

Have you seen the claim that Nerds Gummy Clusters can stop a panic attack?

I’ve been snowed in and scrolling like everyone else, and this week’s viral “hack” says sour candy can stop panic attacks. Some influencers are even saying it’s as effective as Ativan. That’s not accurate.

Ativan is a prescription medication with real clinical research behind it. Candy is not. That said, sour candy can work as a grounding tool for some people.

Strong sensory input can pull your attention into the present moment. Sour taste, cold water, holding ice, or a strong scent can briefly interrupt a panic spiral and give your nervous system a chance to reset.
In my Maryland and Virginia therapy practice, I sometimes use sour candy as a short-term distress tolerance tool. It can help in the moment, but it is not a treatment.

Sour candy is not a replacement for therapy, medication, or a real anxiety care plan. Panic and anxiety deserve more than viral trends. They deserve tools that support real, long-term relief.

What has actually helped you calm your nervous system when anxiety hits?
