Hyaluronic acid filler doesn’t “last forever”, but it also doesn’t disappear on a perfect timeline. 💉

One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that if filler shows up on ultrasound years later, it must still be actively “doing something.” The reality is much more nuanced. HA filler can persist in tissue longer than the average 6–12 month estimate, but what we see on imaging doesn’t always match what we see clinically. How long filler lasts depends on:

→ Cross-linking Chemistry
→ Product Selection
→ Injection Technique + Depth
→ Tissue Response
→ Blood Flow + Metabolism
→ Individual Biology

That’s why two patients can receive the exact same filler in the exact same area and metabolize it completely differently. The takeaway? Hyaluronic acid does break down over time, but biology isn’t one-size-fits-all, and longevity estimates are averages, not guarantees.
