A Rise Above Occupational Therapy Services is exploring the addition of a per diem Speech-Language Pathologist to our interdisciplinary neurological rehabilitation team.

We're looking for someone who understands that "within normal limits" does not always mean "back to normal."

Our ideal candidate recognizes that highly driven professionals, executives, educators, healthcare providers, students, and other high-performing individuals may pass standardized cognitive testing yet continue to struggle with:

✔️ Cognitive endurance
✔️ Slowed processing speed

✔️ Complex executive functioning

Did you know....

What if your headache vanished the moment you laid down? 🛌

Most headaches stay with you whether you’re standing, sitting, or lying down. But a CSF Leak (Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension) plays by different rules.

The Hallmark Sign: A "positional" headache. It feels like a heavy, dull throb while you are upright, but within minutes of lying flat, the pain significantly improves or disappears entirely.

Why is this happening?
Your brain is supposed to "float" in a pressurized bath of cerebrospinal fluid. If there is a tiny tear in the dura (the sac holding that fluid), the pressure drops. When you stand up, gravity pulls the brain downward, tugging on sensitive nerves and blood vessels.

Other "Low Pressure" Signs:
- Muffled Hearing: Like you’re underwater.
- Nausea: Worse when standing.
- Stiff Neck: Often mistaken for tension.

We then integrate those learned strategies into our sessions to allow your brain to feel safe so that you can perform the tasks you want and need to do in life.

Sometimes your body doesn't have the same priorities as you or your therapist. We may start down one road but your body wants to take a different route. That doesn't mean we discharge you...it just means we have to pivot. Our goal is to find your primary driver of symptoms, and sometimes it's not that obvious.

If one strategy isn't working, we explore other options to guide you through the process. Maybe you can't see clearly because you are stuck in fight or flight. Maybe you can't see single because your interoception has been shut off due to the trauma of your injury and you can't feel eye pulling. Maybe your neck is so tight, it doesn't allow your cranial nerves to fire so that your eye muscles move efficiently.

We don't give up on you, we just change the approach.
