On behalf of the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services Team, we extend our deepest condolences to the Geisinger Life Flight and Geisinger EMS family, as well as to the family and loved ones of Jerry Splitt. Our thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.

Prayer for the Family of Jerry Splitt, Our EMS Family, and All Who Continue His Legacy

Heavenly Father,

Today we come before You with hearts filled with sorrow as we mourn the passing of Jerry Splitt, a dedicated Program Director, Flight Nurse, mentor, colleague, and friend. We thank You for the life he lived and the countless people he served through his compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Jerry answered the call to care for those who were hurting, frightened, and in need. Like the Good Samaritan in Scripture, he did not pass by when others were suffering. He stopped, he cared, he comforted, and he gave of himself so that others might have hope and healing. Through long hours, difficult missions, and moments of crisis, he reflected the love of Christ through acts of mercy and service.

Lord, we lift up Jerry’s family before You. Surround them with Your peace, comfort, and strength in the difficult days ahead. Hold them close when grief feels overwhelming and remind them that they do not walk this journey alone.

We also pray for our fellow flight crews, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, pilots, dispatchers, physicians, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and healthcare professionals who mourn the loss of a trusted colleague and friend. Grant them comfort as they remember the many lives Jerry touched and the example he set through his servant-hearted leadership.

May we all be inspired to continue his legacy by caring for others with the same compassion, dedication, and kindness that he demonstrated throughout his life.

Gracious God, thank You for Jerry’s life of service and sacrifice. As we grieve, help us to remember that death is not the end for those who belong to You. Through Christ’s resurrection, we hold fast to the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in Your heavenly kingdom.

Until that day, may Your peace guard our hearts, Your love sustain us, and Your grace carry us forward.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Savior, we pray.

The St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services (SLETS) team would like to pause and recognize the nearly 225 dedicated professionals who make up this incredible organization.
From our Apprentices, EMTs, Paramedics, Critical Care Paramedics (CCPs), PHRNs, PHPEs, PHPs, to our Emergency Communication Operators, Billing team, Education staff, and Medical Directors—your unwavering sense of duty, dedication, and commitment is what drives our mission forward every single day.

This past year has also brought meaningful growth. With the addition of Grand View Hospital Medic 151 and Upper Bucks Regional Medics 141/142 to the SLUHN family, our system continues to strengthen—expanding our reach and enhancing the care we provide across the communities we serve. This makes our team better, stronger, and more connected.

Across the 13 SLUHN Hospital Campuses and over 500 square miles, you deliver care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—responding when it matters most, often in the most challenging moments. Your professionalism, compassion, and resilience do not go unnoticed.
We also want to extend our appreciation to all EMS providers throughout the region. Even though our uniforms and patches may be different, we are united by a shared mission—to serve our communities and make them better. The collaboration, mutual support, and professionalism across agencies are what truly make this system work.

MTLI is a rigorous two-week program delivered over two consecutive years, held in Wheeling, West Virginia, and sponsored by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS). For more than 25 years, this nationally recognized institute has provided outstanding education to develop the next generation of leaders in medical transport. Completion of the program earns Board Certification as a Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE)—a significant professional achievement.
