We are a local affiliate of NAMI who provides free education, support, and resources to those who are living with and supporting someone with a mental condition. We are an affiliate of the nation's largest grassroots organization dedicated to helping individuals and families living with a serious mental health condition. We offer nationally-developed education and support programs for individuals

and families living with a serious mental health condition. Participants gain communication and problem-solving skills and support. National studies show participants gain a greater understanding of mental health conditions, cope much better, worry less, and feel newly empowered to advocate for better treatment and services. Our focus is bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, panic disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, co-occuring brain disorders and addictive disorders. We work cooperatively with health care and social work providers to fill an information gap for families not met elsewhere. We do not provide counseling, case management or legal aid. We are located at inside CASI - the Center for Active Seniors at at 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA 52806. Monday through Friday. 563-386-7477 Ext. 266.

💚Today is the final day to give through Birdies for Charity 💚

When Aiden was diagnosed with schizophrenia, his parents felt overwhelmed and alone. Through a NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley support group, they found connection, understanding, and hope during one of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Stories like Aiden’s are why this work matters. And because of supporters like you, individuals and families in our community can continue accessing free mental health support, education, and advocacy when they need it most.

Every donation through Birdies for Charity receives a bonus of at least 5% - but gifts must be received by the end of today, July 1.

Help ensure no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

Advocacy is at the heart of NAMI's mission. 💚

NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley is proud to join a coalition of organizations affirming that people with disabilities have the right to live, work, and thrive in their communities. We support the continued protections provided through the ADA and the Olmstead decision and are honored to stand with our partners in this effort.

Happy first day of summer from NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley!☀️🌸

❓Did you know? Today is the Summer Solstice, making it the longest day of the year with the most daylight hours! More sunshine and time outdoors can help boost mood, energy, and overall well-being💚

As we welcome a new season, NAMI GMV encourages everyone to make time for self-care, connection, and prioritizing mental health.

Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth — A day honoring freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality❤️💛💚

Here at NAMI GMV, we believe mental health support should be accessible, inclusive, and equitable for every individual and community. Juneteenth is also a reminder of the importance of listening, learning, and continuing conversations about healing, justice, and compassion.

As we celebrate today, we remain committed to supporting mental wellness and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

💚Meet the Team 💚

As we wrap up our Meet the Team series, we’re excited to introduce the person who helps guide the vision and mission of NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley.

Meet Mark Mathews, our Executive Director!

For Mark, this work matters because mental health impacts all of us. Whether through our own experiences or those of our family, friends, and neighbors, mental health is a part of every community - and everyone deserves access to support, education, and hope.

“Mental Health impacts all of us in some way or another. We see those struggles in our own families, and with our friends and neighbors every day. NAMI provides education, support and advocacy to all - individuals, their loved ones, and caregivers - and I'm so proud to be a part of it.”

One of Mark’s favorite parts of the day happens before he even gets to the office: operating “Dad’s Taxi Service” and driving his sons to school each morning.

“I really appreciate that time together as we start our days,” he says. “They are bad tippers, for the record.” 🚕

When he needs to recharge, Mark enjoys a little friendly competition with his family during backyard pool basketball games. 🏀

Fun fact: Mark once found a lost dog and returned it to its owner—who happened to be English actor and comedian Dudley Moore!

Thank you for following along with our Meet the Team series and getting to know the people behind NAMI GMV’s mission. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and support individuals and families affected by mental health conditions every day. 💙
