What happens when a full-body MRI finds something unexpected?

In a new STNDRDS feature, Corey Levitan shares his experience with preventive imaging at SimonMed—including the relief of learning that two areas of concern were benign.

“We’re shifting healthcare from reactive to proactive,” says Dr. Sean Raj, SimonMed Chief Medical Officer.

Find out what his whole-body MRI revealed with the link in the comments.

Did you know your breast tissue can affect what a mammogram can see?

Nearly half of women over 40 have dense breast tissue. On a mammogram, dense tissue and some abnormalities can both appear white—making them harder to tell apart.

That’s not a flaw in mammography. It’s biology.

That’s also why, depending on your breast density and overall risk, your provider may recommend supplemental imaging such as a breast ultrasound. It can sometimes reveal details that are more difficult to see on a mammogram alone.

The takeaway isn’t to worry. It’s to know your breast density, ask your provider what it means for your screening plan and understand that a recommendation for additional imaging doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong. It may simply mean your care team wants a more complete look.

🎧 Dr. Raj breaks this down further in this episode of More Life for Living. Listen through the link in comments below.

You got your calcium score back. It says zero. But here's what it's not telling you.

A calcium score only measures one thing: calcified plaque. It doesn't detect noncalcified "soft" plaque, which can still be there even at zero.

A zero score is reassuring, but it isn't the whole picture.

We broke down what your calcium score can — and can't — tell you about your heart with the link in the comments. 👇

Longevity medicine isn't as out of reach as you think.

Here's what changed.

Episode 8 of More Life for Living is live now. Dr. Rafison, Medical Director of SimonMed Longevity and a board-certified cardiologist, breaks down why real preventive care that once required elite-level access is now more attainable, and what that actually looks like in practice.

Finding a lung nodule on a scan can bring up a lot of questions.

We want you to have answers faster.

We've partnered with Optellum to bring a new AI-powered risk assessment workflow into our imaging network. It will be one of the largest enterprise deployments of AI-powered lung cancer risk assessment in the world.

Here's what that means for you:

→ If a nodule is found on your chest CT, it's automatically evaluated for risk as part of your existing scan. No separate visit. No extra steps.
→ Every result is still reviewed by one of our board certified radiologists before it's included in your report.
→ Expert judgment stays at the center of your care, every time.

This is part of our continued investment in imaging technology built to give patients and providers clearer, more consistent answers.

Your body doesn’t always give obvious warning signs.

You can feel well and still have changes happening beneath the surface. Proactive screening can provide another view of your health—and some advanced screening options are available without a doctor’s order.

A heart-healthy dinner doesn’t have to mean completely changing the way you eat.

One simple place to start: swap some red and processed meat meals for poultry or plant-based proteins.

Dr. Brandon Rafison, preventive cardiologist and Medical Director of SimonMed Longevity, recently spoke with Parade about the evidence behind this approach—and why small, sustainable changes can add up when it comes to long-term cardiovascular health.

As Dr. Rafison explains, prevention isn’t about one “perfect” food or habit. It’s about understanding your risk and making choices that support your heart over time.

You've been eating well, exercising, doing everything "right." Then your annual bloodwork comes back—and your cholesterol is much higher than it was last year.

It can be frustrating, and it’s more common than you might think.

Dr. Candace Westgate, Director of Women’s Health at Cascaid Health and a board-certified OB-GYN, explains why. As estrogen declines during menopause, women can experience a broader metabolic shift: changes in insulin resistance and inflammation, rising blood pressure, elevated lipids and, along with them, increasing cardiovascular risk.

Estrogen really is a superpower—and when it changes, understanding what’s happening in your body matters.

The good news? Once you understand the shift, you can adjust for it: how you eat, how you move and what health markers you watch.

Dr. Westgate breaks it all down on this episode of More Life for Living. Link in the comments!
