Your daily coffee habit isn't the enemy, but if you rely on your voice professionally, it's worth paying attention to how caffeine affects your instrument.

Two things to know: caffeine can dehydrate your vocal folds (making them work harder), and it can trigger reflux that quietly damages your voice without classic heartburn symptoms.

You don't have to quit. Just be strategic: hydrate to match, avoid caffeine right before heavy voice use, and listen to what your voice tells you on high vs low caffeine days.

High-protein goals are everywhere, but performers often do not realize how protein supplements can affect the voice.

If your intake goes up and your water does not, you may end up under-hydrated, which can make the vocal folds feel stiffer and the voice fatigue faster. Add in dairy based protein (the “coated throat” feeling for some singers) plus reflux or bloating from powders and bars, and suddenly your nutrition plan is showing up in your sound.
