As a ShrinkG, I want to remind us all, and I say us because LA is a big part of me too. As we watch the beautiful green bushes & trees through the smoke, turned to ashes, as many of us, see our lives get totally thrown in PARK & sometimes into REVERSE - Remember, this is not PTSD but now is real trauma. We have to pull together & try to keep LA rolling, the entertainment industry rolling, everybody rolling, who is impacted over this thing cuz we have not seen fires like this probably ever. One of the worst seasons ever, climate changes!! And if all hang together, we’ll have another “new normal” like we did post Covid, post Vietnam War, even post World War II. Keep rolling, Dr. G.

When we lose someone, we miss them, we run home everyday and talk to them in our homes, in our cars - wherever we saw them the most...
After about 90 days we shall come home and often are disappointed because their energy is NOT there anymore, we feel abandoned, the place seems empty... but in reality, they are there, but they are now WITHIN US and part of us, and will be doing with us anywhere we go... forever.

Yes, in our world we often have EXTENDED FAMILIES who are more interested or more involved than our own families are. For some like myself, I see some folks in restaurants many times a week, and they DO ask when I walk in, "you OK, didn't see you for a few days". Family 3000 miles away may not always know or ask. Plus, nowadays with the COVID era, when we walk into a store, restaurant, workplace we know, our smile is usually a direct quick connection... We don't always realize how important our smile is to others... -Dr.G

On this day, so many feelings come up. I disrupted 3800 lives in 1985-91 as one of the first three LA AIDS test site counselors hired by the state of California by telling them they had 'the virus'. It was a mostly terminal diagnosis then. We had only 3 hospitals that accepted patients! It was rough to have to tell that many, some were folks I knew. Hard to do, including my telling my partner he had it. He died at 29 after 3 years with AIDS.

In the song, “The Circle of Life”, the first stanza says, “From the day we arrive on the planet, and blinking, step into the sun. There’s more to be seen than can ever be seen. More to do than can ever be done.” Yet there are so many folks all over the place, who are bored, dull, sitting and just waiting for life to pass them by, and their end to come. TAKE A LOOK at the Sunsets! the people walking by, the wonderful animals who warm our hearts, listen to the music... Chapter 9 in my 9 Steps to a Better Life talks about just that "Don't Be Part of the PRE-DEAD"... even in bad times, look around, soak things up... please. -Dr.G
