Small incisions. Big purpose. 👣

A closer look inside the OR with Dr. Robert Joseph.

This procedure combines nerve decompression with a plantar fascia release, performed using a minimally invasive approach designed to address the underlying problem while limiting the size of the surgical incisions.

Sometimes the most important work happens through the smallest openings.

Every condition—and every patient—is different. The right treatment starts with understanding exactly where the pain is coming from.

: After nearly three decades in podiatric medicine and surgery, this is one of the most significant shifts in recovery I’ve witnessed.
Over the last 28 years in practice, patient recovery protocols have continuously evolved. We’ve refined surgical techniques, advanced fixation methods, and improved post-op rehabilitation.
However, integrating targeted peptide therapy into post-injury and post-surgical recovery has been a true game-changer.

Back on the board in under TWO MONTHS. ⛸️🔥

When your patient tells the story better than you ever could…

After surgery, this skater is already back doing what he loves. He’s still working through some stiffness and heading back to physical therapy, but when Dr. Joseph asks about his recovery, his answer says a lot:

“I had zero pain after surgery.” 🙌

His treatment also included PRP/amniotic-based therapy as part of her care plan.

Now the goal is continuing to build strength, restore movement, and get him comfortably back to full activity.

Every patient and recovery is different—but seeing someone get back to the activity they love is always the goal. 👣

Popping or shaving the roof off a cyst is why they always come back. If you want permanent removal, you can't just drain the fluid—you have to trace it down to the stalk and remove the root source at the joint capsule or tendon sheath. Treat the source, not just the bump

Remember the patient with the cyst that kept coming back for FIVE YEARS? 👀

Patty is back — and we’re checking the results.

The cyst is gone, the tendon has been addressed, and that toe isn’t “floppy” anymore. 👣

But that wasn’t her only problem.

She also had an intrasubstance tear of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) in her ankle. Instead of immediately going to surgery, we treated the injury with an injection.

Her reaction today?

“Awesome.” 🙌

Sometimes surgery is necessary. Sometimes there’s another option. The important part is properly identifying the problem and choosing the treatment that makes sense for the patient.

Watch until the end to see how that ankle is moving now. 👀

Surgery is NOT always the answer. 👣

One of my favorite patients has been through multiple injuries, but right now surgery isn’t the best option for her.

So we didn’t stop treating her.

We found another approach for her ankle and tendon injury — and today she’s back showing improved movement and function. 💪

Being a doctor isn’t just about performing surgery. It’s about meeting your patients where they are, finding the right treatment for them, and helping them work toward the next step.

Don’t just tell a patient “no.” Show them the way forward.

👀 My Orange County Housewife… but I can’t tell you who it is. 😂

Early morning in Santa Ana and we’re already getting to work.

Today we’re addressing an accessory bone affecting the posterior tibial tendon. The plan: address the problem, repair and reattach the tendon if necessary, and get her back on the right track.

And while we’re here… we might as well talk about that bunion too. 👠😂

A little personality, a little education, and a lot of foot & ankle medicine.

Never make a mess unless you’re going to clean it up. 👣

“You’re the one who went THREE YEARS without listening to me.” 😂

And eventually… that ankle said enough was enough.

After years of dealing with the problem, this patient ended up with a torn peroneal tendon and ankle instability that needed to be addressed.

Now we’re two weeks out, and it’s time for the test. 👀

Range of motion ✅
Ankle stability ✅
Tendon firing ✅
Getting stronger every day 💪

Sometimes the best part of what I do isn’t the procedure—it’s seeing a patient come back and realizing how far they’ve already come.

Guys… listen to your podiatrist. 😂
