A lot of patients come to consultation wanting more lip volume, but the real issue is often position, not volume. 

If the distance between the base of the nose and the top of the lip, the “Philtrum” is too long, no amount of filler can shorten it.

A lip lift addresses this by using a small, precise incision at the base of the nose to shorten the philtrum and lift the upper lip. 

This reveals the cupid’s bow and allows the upper teeth to show when smiling or at rest. It is a permanent, elegant structural change with a completely hidden scar, making it the perfect solution if you feel your upper lip has been disappearing.

The question nobody asks before a liquid rhinoplasty: “what’s the worst thing that can happen?”

The honest answer is vision loss.

The honest context is that it is exceedingly rare.

Both things are true at once, and you deserve to hear both.
The nose sits over a network of vessels that connect to the ocular circulation. That anatomy is why the nose is one of the most technically demanding areas to inject on the entire face, and why the standard for who should be doing it is higher than most patients realize. There is a level of specificity here the public rarely sees: depth, plane, product selection, volume, injection speed, aspiration technique, and the ability to recognize and reverse a complication immediately.

Non-surgical does not mean low-skill. It means the skill moved somewhere you can’t see it.

My treatment philosophy in three words: less is more. 🤍

Aesthetics has changed so much, and I’m glad it has. We’ve moved away from the era of “more is better.” What I see now is patients who want to look like themselves, just refreshed. Like this patient, who wanted her lip shape enhanced, not changed. A subtle touch was all she needed, because with facial filler, a little goes a long way.
