No school today because of parent-teacher conferences, which means Benny gets one of his favorite things…a visit to the funeral home! He always loves stopping in to say hi to the staff and help before heading off to the Museum of Science with his babysitter this afternoon. 😊

🍂A little fall spirit at Campbell Funeral Home🍂When we couldn’t locate our usual autumn wreath, our office administrator, Jackie, took it upon herself to put together this beautiful one for our front door.
It’s a small gesture, but one that speaks to the pride our team takes in our funeral homes and the care we put into the details that make it feel welcoming. We’re lucky to have people who care about this place as much as we do.

The roots of my connection to this profession go back further than I sometimes realize. 🤍

This photo was taken in the early 2000s, when I was about 10 or 11 years old, speaking at a Memorial Day service hosted by Campbell Funeral Home.

I grew up surrounded by this family tradition, and I’m proud to carry it forward and be part of a legacy that has been built over generations.

Who actually has the legal authority to make decisions when someone passes away?

This can get complicated when there is estrangement, family members who have lost touch, or no clear person with legal authority.

It’s one of those things most people don’t think about until they’re suddenly faced with it.

Knowing how this works ahead of time can help prevent confusion and conflict during an already difficult time.

This is why I think these conversations are so important.

Oh wow, how times have changed in the funeral industry!

Today’s all-women team included a fifth-generation licensed funeral director, a licensed funeral director who came to Massachusetts from the Midwest, a funeral attendant who is a retired Chief Correctional Officer, and a mortuary science student just beginning her journey into funeral service.

Funeral service truly can be a rewarding career at any stage of life. If you’re a woman looking for a new path or a career change, there’s a place for you in this profession.

With day camp finished for the summer, my son came along with me to work the other day.

He helped load the chairs following a graveside service and spent some time cleaning up.

It was a different kind of day at work, and a nice opportunity for him to see a little more of what I do.

Tonight, we had the privilege of volunteering with The Dinner Bell, a wonderful nonprofit that brings our community together.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to lend a hand, serve our neighbors, and be part of an organization doing such meaningful work.

And apparently, volunteering also comes with unexpected opportunities… like Eric receiving an impromptu trumpet lesson from one of tonight’s guests! 🎺😂, video in comments.
