In a vehicle accident, the patient who can still move their fingers counts on you to keep it that way.
The cervical spine protects the nerves that control everything below the neck.
After a collision, a C-spine injury can look stable until the wrong movement turns a fracture into permanent damage. That is why we stabilize during assessment and transport.
