Hi! Let me introduce myself đź’ś

My name is Heidi! I am the proud owner of Bridge to Healing Counseling PLLC. I am a graduate of Montana State University Billings, where I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services. Since 2009, I have been dedicated to supporting individuals and families in the human services field. In 2025, I completed my Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University.

I am passionate about walking alongside teens as they navigate the challenges of middle and high school, helping them build confidence, resilience, and healthy coping skills. I also works with adults, offering a supportive and compassionate space to process life transitions, stress, relationships, and personal growth. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling heard, understood, and supported.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy traveling and spending quality time with my family. I feel honored to do this work and remain committed to helping others move toward healing and hope.

I am a LCPC-candidate under the supervision of Christine Hurst with Integrity Counseling Group. I offer in office and telehealth appointments.

I look forward to helping those in need! đź’ś

Setting boundaries can be hard, not because you’re weak or broken, but because it often touches deep emotional patterns, survival strategies, and past experiences. Here are some of the most common reasons it feels so difficult:

1. Early Conditioning

If you grew up in a family where your needs were dismissed, boundaries punished, or love felt conditional, you may have learned:

"My worth comes from pleasing others."

"If I say no, I’ll be abandoned."

"Conflict isn’t safe."

These messages sink in early, and your nervous system wires around them.

2. Fear of Rejection or Abandonment

Many people fear that asserting a boundary means losing connection, love, or approval.

You might worry, “Will they still care about me if I disappoint them?”

For those with abandonment wounds or attachment trauma, this fear can feel physically intense.

3. Guilt and Shame

Saying no can feel like you’re being “selfish” or “mean.”

If you were taught to put others first or be the caretaker/peacekeeper, guilt becomes the default emotion when asserting needs.

4. Empathy Overload

Highly empathetic or trauma-informed people often feel others’ disappointment or discomfort like it’s their own.

This can lead to over-giving, people-pleasing, or softening boundaries to avoid others’ pain.

5. Patterns of Codependency or Trauma Bonds

If you’re stuck in relational dynamics where you feel responsible for someone else's emotions or survival, boundaries can feel like betrayal.

Trauma bonds reinforce the idea that “keeping the peace” is safer than speaking your truth.

6. Lack of Practice or Language

Many of us were never taught how to set boundaries, what to say, how to hold them, or how to deal with pushback.

Without skills or support, it’s like trying to navigate in the dark.

The Good News:

Boundaries are learnable, and the more you practice:

The stronger your self-worth becomes.

The easier it gets to tell the difference between guilt and growth.

The more you attract relationships where you don’t have to shrink to be loved.
