In Loving Memory of Rosemary K. Chorbaji

April 3, 1948 – May 30, 2026

Rosemary K. Chorbaji passed away on May 30, 2026, while residing at the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Delhi, NY. She was born on April 3, 1948, in Binghamton, NY.

Rosemary graduated from Binghamton High School and continued to pursue her education throughout her life. She retired from Northern Virginia Community College, where she earned numerous awards for her dedication and contributions. Prior to her tenure there, she was employed at Syracuse University. After retiring, Rosemary moved to Deposit to be closer to her family. During her time in Deposit, she formed deep friendships with individuals who became like family to her.

Rosemary was an enthusiastic reader, loved shopping, and enjoyed pampering her beloved pets, Mocha and Bailey. She was frequently seen walking with them or visiting Wendy’s drive‑thru for a treat.

She is survived by her sons, Bradley Shaffer and Wade Shaffer, along with Wade’s wife Nina. Her grandsons include David Shaffer, Derrick Shaffer and his wife Carol, and Dustin Shaffer. Rosemary is also survived by her sister Donna. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert Whitehouse and Joyce Ford; her sister Sandy Cook; her daughter Wendy Smiley; her daughter‑in‑law Laurel Gehrig; and her grandsons Dalton Hillis and Cameron Smiley.

May her soul find peace in eternal rest.

Joyce Haynes DeRose, 79, passed away on May 25, 2026, at home with her family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joyce is predeceased by her parents Clifton and Olive Haynes, her sister Julia Bishop and Richard DeRose her husband of 52 years. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Joshua) Kellam, 3 grandchildren Rachel DeRose, Elliot DeRose and Julia Scheuerman (Kenneth Smithson), her sister in law Loretta Tanzini and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was born and raised in Walton, NY before moving to Binghamton in the late 1960s. She worked for Lourdes Hospital for over 15 years before moving on to Upstate Hospital for 10 years. In her off time she enjoyed cooking, baking, playing bingo, traveling and crocheting. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption.

Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday June 3, 2026 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Court St. in Binghamton with Fr. Arthur Krawczenko officiating. Burial will be private in the family plot in Walton, NY. The family will welcome friends at the church from 10am until the time of service.

John J. Davis Jr., 90, of Endicott, passed away May 22, 2026.
Pastor John J. Davis Born 6/4/1935 to John and Jeanne Davis of Herkimer, NY. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Susan. He also leaves his sister Mary and his children Linda, John Jr., Cindy, Rob, Kelly, Bethany, and Seth Thomas.
He was in the Air Force from 1952–1959 and was very proud of being in the Strategic Air Command. After the service he became a master electroplater. In 1985, he felt the call to go into the ministry and became an ordained Baptist Minister. He had several churches, but was most proud of being the Chaplain for Truckers of America. In 15 years, he saw over 500 truck drivers give their lives to Jesus. He spent every day handing out gospel tracts and trying to win people to the Lord.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Light House Baptist Church, Vestal, NY.
