UAB Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship recently honored several of our scientists for being named on U.S. Patent No. 12,215,108, “Development of Potential Antidotes for Arsenicals.”
Assistant Director of Licensing Dr. Karen Bernard presented the following inventors with a commemorative coin for their accomplishment: Dr. Mohammad Athar (Professor, pictured on the first slide), Dr. Jasim Khan (Researcher V, pictured on the second slide), and Dr. Ritesh Srivastava (Assistant Professor, pictured on the third slide).
This technology represents the culmination of six years of NIH-funded research to Dr. Athar, who was the Principal Investigator. The team identified three novel chemical scaffolds that serve as dual BRD4/RIPK3 inhibitors, with potential applications as antidotes for arsenicals and in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases involving these cell-signaling effectors.
Congratulations to all on this outstanding achievement!
