Lauren Roberts, MS, ALC is a Board Certified Associate Licensed Counselor in the state of Alabama. She has a wide range of clinical training and experience working with individuals and families, as well as facilitating group counseling. Her specific areas of interests and expertise include, but aren’t limited to: Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, depression, anxiety, relationship/family
issues, trauma, grief, and substance abuse. In addition to the counseling services offered at Longwood Psychological Center, Ms. Roberts is trained in ABA therapy, and she works as a certified Registered Behavior Technician at Madison Behavior Therapy. She is also an adjunct professor at Calhoun Community College, teaching Developmental Psychology and General Psychology courses. Therapeutically, Lauren works from an integrative perspective, utilizing a variety of orientations and therapies according to the client's individual needs. Her approach involves unconditional acceptance and understanding toward each client. She strives to provide clients with a nonjudgmental, safe and supportive environment to help guide them on their personal journey of self-exploration and emotional growth. Roberts has a particular passion and extensive experience working with adolescents as they struggle to define their identities, cope with rapid physical, emotional and psychological changes, and adjust to the demands of peers, schools, families and society. When working with adolescents, Lauren’s therapeutic philosophy includes working collaboratively with clients and families as a whole, to provide an optimum level of care. Lauren is also trained in various other relationship issues, including marriage counseling. Lauren has co-authored research articles and has presented research at the Southeastern Psychological Association conference. Her studies and research work have been on a variety of subjects including: Autism, sexuality/gender issues, spirituality/religion, and multiple other subjects. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, and Southeastern Psychological Association. Lauren’s interests outside of work include listening to music on vinyl, reading, writing, and going on walks with her golden doodle, Vincent Van Golden.
