Nurture of Alabama, Inc. was honored to partner with CASA of Jefferson County CASA of Jefferson County and the Negro Southern League Museum Birmingham to showcase As Goes the South last evening. The 45-minute documentary explored the evolving story of Birmingham, Alabama, revealing the character, resilience, and progress of a modern Southern city that is often overshadowed by the broader reputation of the state of Alabama.

Produced by Ed Fields and Noel Didla, the film highlighted Birmingham’s rich history, cultural transformation, and the collaborative efforts that continue to shape its future. The event brought community members together for meaningful dialogue and reflection on the city’s growth, challenges, and opportunities.

This partnership aligned with Nurture of Alabama’s mission to strengthen communities through education, engagement, and conversations that instill hope, understanding, connection, and positive change. Ed Fields

Happy Pride Month

Pride Month is a time to reflect on what true safety, acceptance, and affirmation should look like.

We recognize that many LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced rejection, misunderstanding, or harm in different spaces. Your experiences are valid, and so is your identity. You deserve care that affirms who you are rather than questions it.

This month and every month, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community in promoting inclusion, dignity, and emotional wellness for all. Love is valid. Identity is valid. You are valid. 💙💚💛💜

Join us as we kick off our Mental Health Awareness Initiative with a powerful conversation focused on healing, fatherhood, and emotional wellness.

🎤 Featured Speaker: Perry Goins III, LPC
🗣️ Topic: “Healing the Legacy: Fatherhood, Identity, and Emotional Wellness”

This FREE community event is open to men, women, and children and will provide a safe space to discuss healing, growth, emotional wellness, and the important role fathers play in shaping healthy families and communities.

Men’s Mental Health Month is an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about mental health. Together, we can challenge harmful stereotypes, promote emotional well-being, and support men in seeking the help and resources they deserve.

We are excited to partner with the Negro Southern League Museum and grateful to Sheriff Mark Pettway for supporting our mental health awareness initiatives and helping bring valuable resources to our community.
