UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye Urgent Care is now open! 👁️

Our new walk-in Eye Urgent Care is open to patients with urgent, non-life-threatening eye concerns. No appointment is needed.

Hours:
• Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
• Saturday: 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
• Sunday: 1–5 p.m.

We're proud to continue providing specialized eye care to our community.

For more than a decade, the Hall W. Thompson Hero for Sight tribute wall at UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye has recognized the importance of advancing vision care. Each year, Sight Savers America commissions artwork from a visually impaired artist to accompany the tribute. This year’s display features artwork by Shellyann Siddoo. 🎨

UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye Urgent Care coming Oct. 1.

Beginning Oct. 1, UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye will transition from a 24/7 Emergency Department to UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye Urgent Care, providing specialized care for urgent, non-life-threatening eye concerns during expanded daytime and evening hours.

New hours:
• Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
• Saturday: 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
• Sunday: 1–5 p.m.

The Eye Urgent Care is walk-in and eye care only – no appointment is needed.

In addition to providing expert glaucoma care, Dr. Stein serves as Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and is a nationally recognized leader in using data science to improve eye care.
