Doulas do NOT replace partners or family members!

Think of a doula as another member of your team. While your partner loves and supports you, a doula brings special training and experience to help during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.

A doula can answer questions, offer comfort measures, explain what’s happening, and help your partner feel more confident supporting you.

It’s not doula OR partner, it’s doula AND partner! 🤝

We were so honored to be a part of Caitlyn's birth experience 🫶 She had a goal of an unmedicated VBAC, and with the support of her partner and doula, she achieved it!

Our role as doulas is to help you feel supported, informed, and confident as you work toward your birth goals. Doulas work alongside partners (not replace them!) to support the whole family.

In this birth, support looked like helping with positioning during labor, using comfort measures to ease contractions, offering education and reassurance, and encouraging her through every step.

Swipe through to see some special moments from her labor and birth💙🥹

Postpartum doula support can look like a lot of different things, because every family, recovery, and transition into parenthood is different!

For some families, it may look like emotional support and reassurance. For others, it may be help navigating infant feeding, newborn care questions, rest, recovery, or simply having someone there who understands and listens.

The postpartum period was never meant to be navigated alone, and support during this time matters.

Attention Alabama doulas!

The Alabama Doula Workforce Survey closes at the end of the month, and we want to hear from you.

To better support and strengthen the doula workforce across our state, we are gathering input from doulas throughout Alabama. If you currently support—or have previously supported—birthing families in Alabama, we invite you to complete the survey.

Your voice will help inform policies, Medicaid reimbursement efforts, resources, and supports that reflect the realities of doula work in our state.

Scan the QR code or take the survey here: https://uab.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_87gGuEVENRkNuUS
