UAB Eye Care is the clinical operation of the UAB School of Optometry. The state-of-the-art clinic is located on the ground floor in the Henry Peters Building at 1716 University Boulevard, next door to the Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences. It is a multidisciplinary clinic with both optometrists and ophthalmologists providing eye care in a number of subspecialties. The clinic is comprised

Dr. Katherine Weise is advancing pediatric eye care in meaningful ways. As co-chair of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG), she has helped develop a diagnostic tool designed for eye care providers who do not specialize in pediatric optometry, supporting earlier detection of amblyopia, or “lazy eye.” Built on more than 27 years of research, the tool delivers evidence-based guidance directly into clinical practice, expanding access to early diagnosis and improving outcomes for children worldwide.
