🏗️ Brookwood Village | July Construction Update

Our future flagship at Brookwood Village is taking shape as we move toward our targeted Summer 2027 opening.

July brought several major milestones, including the substantial completion of mall demolition, structural steel for the south expansion and north elevation, and major slab-on-grade work.

With significant structural work now in place, the transformation of Brookwood Village into the future home of Andrews Sports Medicine is becoming more visible with each passing month.

Led by Brasfield & Gorrie, DSC Architects, Hammes, and Veritas Real Estate Advisors, this project reflects a shared commitment to creating an exceptional destination for orthopaedic and sports medicine care.

We’re building more than a facility — we’re building the future of orthopaedic and sports medicine care for our community.

Twenty years ago, Drew Brees suffered one of the most devastating shoulder injuries in NFL history.

Many questioned whether he would ever throw a football the same way again.

What followed was an extraordinary team effort in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Lyle Cain, Dr. Jeff Dugas, and physical therapist Kevin Wilk, DPT. worked alongside one of the most determined athletes they’ve ever treated to help rebuild Brees’ shoulder—and ultimately his Hall of Fame career.

After departing Birmingham three months post-op, Drew’s journey continued with Coach Tom House, Coach Sean Payton and his Saints teammates.

In this outstanding feature by longtime New Orleans Saints writer John DeShazier, you’ll hear directly from the team behind one of the greatest comebacks in professional sports.

It’s a powerful reminder that Victory Over Injury® is never the work of one person. It’s built through expertise, teamwork, and relentless determination of the athlete.

Inside the stories of the people who shaped Drew Brees' Hall of Fame journey

This past weekend, the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) and Andrews Sports Medicine proudly hosted the largest annual Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course in our history.

Physicians, current and former fellows, residents, and healthcare professionals from our practice and from across the country gathered at the Bruno Conference Center for two days of expert instruction, hands-on scanning, and cadaver workshops focused on advancing the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis and ultrasound-guided procedures.

Thank you to our outstanding faculty, guest instructors, and every participant who helped make this year’s course our biggest and most successful to date.

A special thank you to Regenerative Medicine Training Institute and Accelerated Biologics for their generous support and partnership in helping make this event possible.

Together, we’re advancing sports medicine through education, innovation, and collaboration.

Football season is almost here - and so is one of the busiest times of the year at Andrews Sports Medicine.

As we prepare to care for athletes across Alabama this fall, we’re expanding our front-line team and are seeking a Patient Service Liaison for our Birmingham clinic.

This role is the first impression of our practice and plays an essential part in delivering the exceptional patient experience Andrews Sports Medicine is known for. Ideal candidates are service-driven, detail-oriented, comfortable with insurance processes, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Whether it’s a Friday night football injury, a weekend warrior, or someone simply looking to get back to the activities they love, every member of our team plays a role in helping patients achieve Victory Over Injury®.
