performs Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion, Lumbar Microdiscectomy and decompression, Kyphoplasty, percutaneous discectomy procedures, stem cell implantation and injection, and some arthroscopic procedures. He uses the operating microscope regularly on spine procedures. Lauren Savage Jr. is board certified, fellowship trained, minimally invasive orthopedic spine surgeon. He began performing
kyphoplasty in 2001, and has performed over 1500 kyphoplasty procedures. He has been an instructor at kyphoplasty courses for Kyphon, the company that developed and pioneered the Kyphoplasty procedure. He has also been an instructor for minimally invasive spine procedures at the Practical Anatomy Workshop in St. His practice is focused on minimally invasive spine surgery and other minimally invasive procedures. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He completed a three part fellowship in spine surgery while working with neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons. He completed one of his fellowships working with Dr. Paul Young in St. Louis, one of the first Spine Microsurgeons. presented the first research on minimally invasive spine surgery performed in Alabama in 1988, while a resident at UAB.
