When a Telehealth or Same-Day Visit Just Makes Sense

Now that everyone's back on a schedule, here's when it might be easier to skip the drive in:
- Quick illness check — sore throat, pink eye, minor rash
- Prescription question or refill discussion
- Follow-up on something we're already monitoring
- A fast gut-check before deciding if an in-person visit is needed

And when you do need to come in, our same-day urgent visits are there for the stuff that can't wait — no appointment necessary.

Busy fall schedule? We've got options that fit around it: https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

MYTH VS. FACT: Germs & Immunity

MYTH: Going outside with wet hair will make you sick.
FACT: Colds come from viruses, not damp hair — though a chill can make you feel more run down.

MYTH: Hand sanitizer is just as good as washing with soap and water.
FACT: Soap and water actually removes more germs, especially after messy hands. Sanitizer is a solid backup, not a full replacement.

MYTH: Antibiotics will help a bad cold clear up faster.
FACT: Most colds are viral — antibiotics only work on bacterial infections, and using them when they're not needed can do more harm than good.

Classroom season means germ season. If you want to talk through what to watch for this fall, we're happy to help: https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

New Routines Can Bring Up Big Feelings

New teacher, new classroom, new schedule — it's a lot, even for kids who are excited about school. A little worry or grumpiness during the adjustment is normal. A few general things that can help:
- Keep talking openly about how the day went, good or bad
- Stick to consistent routines at home, even when the school day feels unpredictable
- Watch for changes that last more than a couple weeks — trouble sleeping, stomachaches, or pulling back from things they used to enjoy

And parents, the adjustment isn't just a kid thing — juggling a new routine yourself is real too.

If something feels like more than typical back-to-school jitters, for you or your child, let's talk. https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

Getting the Whole Family Back Into Routine

A few low-effort ways to ease into the school-year rhythm:
- Prep lunches or breakfasts the night before (even just picking out options counts)
- Post a simple morning checklist by the door — shoes, backpack, water bottle
- Set a "screens off" time that works for everyone, not just the kids
- Build in one buffer day a week where nothing's scheduled

Routines don't have to be perfect on day one — they just have to start somewhere. What's your go-to trick for smoothing out the school-year morning rush? Tell us below.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Meet Shelby, our Medical Assistant here at Iatria! She's also a parent gearing up for back-to-school season, so we asked for her best tip for surviving the first full week of school.

"My best tip for surviving the first week of back to school is keeping mornings easy by prepping our breakfast and lunches the night before and having clothes easily accessible. Also knowing that going into a new grade can cause a world of emotions and just being prepared for the emotional release after the first day."

We love our team, and we think you will too. Come meet Shelby and the rest of the crew: https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

Happy National Relaxation Day!

Backpacks packed, physicals done, schedules mapped out — you got the kids ready for the school year. Today's your permission slip to slow down for a minute, too.

Whatever that looks like for you — a quiet cup of coffee, a walk, five minutes of actual silence — take it. Caring for your family starts with caring for yourself.

And if "relaxed" hasn't felt possible lately, or you've been putting off your own check-up while handling everyone else's, we'd love to see you. https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

It's Left Handers Day, and we're using it as an excuse to brag on our front office manager, Heather Moseley.

Heather is the doer, the keeper, and the finder of all things around Iatria — ask her where anything is and she already knows. This whole office would be lost without her (we've tested this theory more than once).

So happy Left Handers Day, Heather — the office runs because you run it.

If you call in today, make sure to show Heather some extra love and attention!

MYTH VS. FACT: Back-to-School Edition

MYTH: If your child's fever broke this morning, they're fine for school.
FACT: Most schools (and pediatric guidance) recommend waiting 24 hours fever-free without medication before heading back to class.

MYTH: Cold weather is what makes kids catch colds.
FACT: It's the germs in closer indoor quarters — not the temperature — behind that back-to-school sniffle season.

MYTH: The more germs kids are exposed to, the stronger their immune system gets.
FACT: Some exposure helps, but skipping basics like hand-washing and vaccines isn't a shortcut to immunity — it just means more sick days.

Got a specific question about your kiddo's health this school year? That's what we're here for. https://bit.ly/iatria-booking

Still on summer bedtime? You're not alone.

Shifting the whole family back to an earlier bedtime doesn't have to happen overnight. A few general tips:
- Move bedtime up 15-20 minutes every few nights instead of all at once
- Keep mornings consistent, even on the days it's tempting to sleep in
- Dim the screens an hour before lights-out
- Let mornings include some daylight — it helps reset the body's clock

Every kid (and honestly, every parent) adjusts differently. If sleep struggles are sticking around, that's worth a conversation: https://bit.ly/iatria-booking
