H.E.A.R.T. is holding an extra special session on Oct. 13 thanks to a grant from First International Bank & Trust! NDSU Extension will be holding a Real Colors personality test training to help participants understand themselves and their family members better.

Anyone with a family member or close friend with an addiction or in recovery is welcome to join us Oct. 13, 6-8 p.m. at 101 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck.

Our next H.E.A.R.T. Family Program session is Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m., featuring a video from Hazelden followed by a group discussion on how families respond to addiction. This free session is open to anyone supporting a loved one through recovery. We hope to see you there!

Join us for the next H.E.A.R.T. Family Program meeting on Aug. 18, 6-8 p.m., at 101 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck. We'll be hearing from the North Dakota Brain Injury Network about the connection between addiction and brain injuries.

This is an important and often overlooked topic. A previous brain injury can increase the risk of addiction, and addiction itself can lead to brain injury. Understanding this two way relationship can help families better support their loved ones on the path to recovery.

Tomorrow, July 21, we have invited members of a local Al-Anon group to come share their stories and how Al-Anon has helped their families.

H.E.A.R.T. meets every other Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., at 101 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck. It includes an hour of education (resources, videos, speakers) and an hour of a support group. All family members/friends are welcome to join, regardless of whether you have a loved one in treatment at Heartview.

The H.E.A.R.T. Family Program will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, July 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. The topic will be the 12 steps for families. The first hour of every H.E.A.R.T. meeting focuses on education, covering ways to support your loved one as you heal personally. The second hour is an open support group. Everyone is welcome, whether or not your loved one is a Heartview patient.

Father's Day can bring up complicated feelings, especially when addiction has affected the relationship between a father and son. Whether you are a dad who has watched your son struggle, a son whose father is in recovery, or somewhere in between, you are not alone.

The HEART Family Program offers support for families navigating exactly this. At our next meeting on Tuesday, June 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., Bobby Grey Eagle will be sharing his journey as a father and how spirituality has affected his life.

If this Father's Day is a difficult one, consider joining us. Support is available, and you do not have to figure this out alone.

H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Everyone Achieve Recovery Today) is a free, confidential education and support group for families of individuals with a substance use disorder.

All are welcome, regardless of whether your family member is a Heartview client. the group meets every other Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at at 101 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck.
