A reminder for your Monday: productivity is not only measured by how many things you cross off your list. Our worth is also not equal to our productivity, even though society likes to say it is.

Sometimes productivity looks like:

• Making the appointment you have been avoiding
• Taking a break before you completely burn out
• Setting a boundary
• Asking someone for help
• Choosing rest instead of pushing through

What is one thing you are giving yourself permission to do differently this week?

My family and I went to the movies today. We tried for Spiderman, but as expected, it was sold out. We didn’t buy online because we weren’t quite sure when we would get there with other things going on today. We did get to see The Odyssey.

It got me thinking not only about how in the world could Matt Damon be getting older like that when I don’t feel we should be that old 🤣 … but also about heroes and sidekicks. Stars and supporting characters. Main characters and their ride-and-die. However you wish to frame it.

Every hero has a sidekick.

If your mental health had a sidekick, what would you want it to be?

* ☕ Coffee
* 🐶 A dog
* 🎵 Music
* 😂 Humor
* 🌲 Nature

Sometimes our “sidekicks” are the small things that help us get through tough days.

I know that tomorrow, Monday, , mine will be coffee!

Sometimes showing up is the hardest part.

Going to events alone can stir up all kinds of thoughts:
“Everyone else has someone with them.”
“People are going to think I don’t have friends.”
“Why wasn’t I invited by anyone?”

Our brains are remarkably good at filling in the blanks- and unfortunately, they often fill them with self-criticism instead of facts. I am often reminding people feelings are not facts!

The reality? Adult life is busy. Friends have kids’ activities, work commitments, travel plans, limited energy, or simply different interests. Most of the time, it has very little to do with us.

I’ve decided to go to something alone tonight.

Will it feel a little uncomfortable? Probably.
Will anyone else spend much time thinking about the fact that I’m there alone? Probably not.

There’s something quietly empowering about realizing you don’t have to wait for the perfect invitation or the perfect companion to enjoy your life. Going alone doesn’t mean you’re lonely. It means you’re choosing not to let fear or assumptions make your world smaller.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll enjoy the freedom of coming and going on your own schedule. Maybe you’ll strike up a conversation with someone new. Or maybe you’ll simply enjoy being there.

Sometimes confidence isn’t the absence of anxiety. It’s deciding to do the thing anyway.

If you’ve been waiting to try a class, attend an event, see a movie, or eat at that restaurant—but you’ve been waiting for someone to go with you—consider this your gentle reminder:

Your life doesn’t have to stay on hold while you wait for company. ❤️

What’s something you’ve done alone that turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable?
