I wonder if contentment has gotten a bad reputation.
Somewhere along the way, we started treating it as though it meant settling. As if being content meant giving up on our goals, lowering our expectations, or deciding we'd grown enough.
I've never thought those ideas belonged together.
The people I know who seem most content are often the same people who are still learning, trying new things, and looking forward to what's next. They haven't stopped growing. They just aren't waiting until they reach the next milestone before allowing themselves to enjoy where they are today.
There's a difference between being content and being complacent. I think we've confused the two.
I wrote more about that in today's blog because I suspect contentment may be one of the most misunderstood emotions we experience.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
When you hear the word contentment, what comes to mind?
