For a full century, Saint Monica Catholic Church has stood as a beacon of hope in North Tulsa — a place where faith took root, families found support, and a community rebuilt itself with courage and grace.

Born from the resilience of the Greenwood community after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, St. Monica began as a small mission in 1926, led by devoted pastors and parishioners who believed deeply in creating a spiritual home for African American Catholics.

From those early days of door to door evangelization and catechism classes… To the construction of the beautiful Tudor Gothic church in 1936… To the generations of families who have worshipped, learned, and served within its walls…

St. Monica has remained a powerful symbol of faith, dignity, and unity for 100 years.

Today, we honor the pastors, sisters, leaders, and parishioners who built this legacy — and the vibrant community that continues to carry it forward.
