🌈🐾 Who are you remembering today?

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, and we invite you to share a photo or story of a beloved pet who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Tell us their name. Share a favorite memory. Tell us about their funniest quirk, their favorite toy, or the little thing you still miss most.

Our pets leave paw prints on our hearts and become part of our stories. ❤️ And when they are gone, the grief can be very real. There is no timeline for missing someone you loved, no matter how many legs they had.

Today, we want to hold space for that grief—and for the love that remains.

Share your beloved pet in the comments below. We would be honored to remember them with you. 🐾🌈❤️

We’re proud to partner with organizations like Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry (SVCM) that work every day to support our neighbors and strengthen our community. 💚

On August 6, SVCM Assistant Director Savanna Craig spoke with WLOS ABC 13 about the impact recent SNAP program changes are having on local food pantries—and the numbers show just how much the need has grown.

This June, SVCM’s food pantry served 282 local families, compared with 190 families last June—a 48% increase in just one year.

Food security, financial stability, and mental health are deeply connected. Having a strong community means making sure our neighbors know where they can turn when things get hard, and we’re incredibly grateful for the work SVCM continues to do throughout the Swannanoa Valley.

Take a few minutes to watch Savanna’s interview to learn more about how SVCM is responding to the growing need in our community—and how you can help support our neighbors when they need it most. 💚

We hear the word ✨wellness✨ a lot.

It can sound like one more thing we're supposed to be doing perfectly.

But that's not what wellness is.

Wellness is checking in with yourself instead of ignoring what you need.

It's reaching out when life feels heavy.
It's celebrating the small wins.
It's giving yourself grace on the hard days.
It's remembering that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

As National Wellness Month begins, we hope you'll find one small way to care for yourself today.

Not because it's August.
Because you're worth taking care of.

July is **National Minority Mental Health Month**, a reminder that while mental health touches every family and every community, not everyone has the same access to care.

For many people, culture, language, finances, transportation, and the stigma surrounding mental health can make it harder to reach out for support. No one should have to face those barriers alone.

At Black Mountain Counseling Center, we believe everyone deserves a place where they feel welcomed, respected, and cared for. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds can find compassionate mental health services close to home.

As a community, we can make a difference by listening without judgment, checking in on one another, and helping create spaces where it's okay to ask for help.

Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community—one conversation, one act of kindness, and one person at a time. 💙
