We want to update concerned residents, families and the community regarding the facility's response to the extreme heat conditions currently affecting Black River Falls and the surrounding area.
Pine View Care Center continues to closely monitor the extreme heat affecting Black River Falls and the surrounding area. The health, safety and comfort of our residents is, and always will be, our highest priority.
In addition to our hot weather protocols, which we provided updates on earlier this week, we have taken additional measures to ensure our residents are safe and comfortable:
1. We continue to work actively and cooperatively with Jackson County Emergency Management. Cindy Jefson, Emergency Management Coordinator, was on-site at the facility. She issued a public statement stating that no additional services or equipment were requested by the community partners that were contacted.
2. HVAC contractors were on-site on July 17 and placed rush orders for additional mini-split units to supplement the currently active A/C units working at the facility. We anticipate that these units, along with cooling temperatures and forecasted rain, will bring the facility temperatures down within the next day.
3. We are actively monitoring temperatures throughout the facility and offering to move residents to the coolest areas of the facility.
We want to reiterate that our team has activated our hot weather protocols to address current conditions and to ensure the continued well-being of all individuals in our care.
The following actions continue to be in place to keep residents as comfortable as possible:
1. Portable A/C units have been deployed in common areas throughout the facility.
2. Hydration stations are set up and our staff is providing fluids and frozen treats to residents frequently throughout the day.
3. Fans and additional cooling equipment are operating in resident living areas and common spaces.
4. Cooler areas of the building are available and residents are welcome to relocate to those spaces at any time upon request.
5. Our HVAC vendor has been contacted and is actively assessing our cooling systems to complete any needed repairs or replacements as quickly as possible.
Our staff is trained in recognizing and responding to signs of heat-related illness, and we are conducting regular wellness checks with our residents. We are pleased to share that our residents have not expressed concerns about their comfort, and our team continues to monitor conditions around the clock.
We appreciate the concern shown by families and community members. We encourage anyone with questions to contact us directly at 715-284-5396. We are happy to speak with families individually and welcome visits at any time.
