We have had several people believe that High Mountain Healthcare purchased Grace Pediatrics and that we have their medical records. This is false information.

High Mountain Healthcare did not purchase Grace Pediatrics, and we do not have their patient records.

Grace Pediatrics has provided the following information for those inquiring about obtaining their records from their office. Please refer to their information below for guidance.

This is the biggest thing we have been working on. We know that this is important! We have had many request- too many for us to keep up on so we retained a company that will help with this.
Sorry it has taken so long, we’ve been working as hard as we could in the background; things don’t happen as quickly as we would like or hope for. Thanks for your patience.

High Mountain Healthcare along with Sheila Whitener were not involved in the closing of Grace Pediatrics and Wellness. We have had some frustration geared toward things that are out of our control.

We are trying to do what we can to accommodate new patients while also managing the capacity of a very busy practice.

We appreciate everyone that has been patient and understanding with us.

We are continuing to process all new patient packets that we have received this week. Please know that we are working hard to review each packet, and we have staff members dedicated to entering this information and getting back to you as quickly as possible.

Wow! We have been overwhelmed-in the best way- to the announcement that Shelia Whitener is joining our practice! We are so excited to welcome Sheila and are grateful for the support and enthusiasm from or community.

Our dedicated team has been working after hours on Friday and again this morning to process the large volume of new patient packet requests. We have received hundreds of requests, and it is going to take some time to work through them all and enter everything in our system.

Before we begin scheduling patients, Shelia will need to complete onboarding and system training. If you have an immediate medical need, please let us know when you are submitting your information, and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

Thank you again for your overwhelming response and your patience. Please know that our team is working as quickly as possible to process every request while continuing to care for our established patients and run an already busy practice.

Please join us in giving Sheila Whitener a warm welcome to the High Mountain Healthcare family. We are excited to have her join our team and look forward to the knowledge, compassion, and dedication she brings to our patients and community.
Welcome, Sheila! We are so happy to have you as part of the High Mountain Healthcare team. 💙

Sheila’s nursing career began more than 35 years ago as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Nursing at Emory University with a focus on Midwifery. She has practiced as an Advanced Practice Nurse in this community for more than 25 years, primarily in Family Practice, caring for patients across the lifespan. As a Certified Nurse Midwife, she delivered babies for more than 20 years, and went on to earn a Doctorate Degree in Nursing. Providing care in a Family Practice setting, she had the privilege of caring for growing families. This inspired her to continue her education so as to become certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Beyond patient care, Sheila is a nursing instructor and preceptor. Her love for nursing and learning is a motivation to invest in the education of future nurses and Nurse Practitioners. Her interests include health promotion and maintenance, as well as patient education and patient advocacy – particularly on behalf of the vulnerable and infirm.

Sheila’s family is central to her life. She enjoys spending time with her parents, children, and grandchildren – gardening, picnicking, hiking, and riding bikes. She also enjoys reading, baking, sewing, and knitting.

🎉 Exciting News from High Mountain Healthcare! 🎉

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Laci Myers to the High Mountain Healthcare family! Dr. Myers will officially be joining our practice this October, and we couldn't be more excited.

Dr. Myers is board-certified in Family Medicine and completed her residency training at Cabarrus Family Medicine/CMC–Northeast Hospital in Concord, North Carolina. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her bachelor's degree in Biology from Western Carolina University.

With more than 15 years of medical experience, Dr. Myers brings a wealth of knowledge from her work in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, administration, and family practice. Her diverse background allows her to provide compassionate, comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

Outside the office, Dr. Myers enjoys exercising, fishing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and pets. She and her husband, Chris, a registered nurse and fishing guide, live in Blairsville with their two children.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Myers! We look forward to introducing her to our community and are excited for the excellent care she will provide to our patients.
