💛🎗️ July is Sarcoma Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️💛
While many people have heard of more common cancers, sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the body's connective tissues, including muscle, fat, blood vessels, nerves, and soft tissues.
From a urology perspective, sarcomas can occasionally occur in the kidneys, bladder, prostate, testicles, spermatic cord, and other tissues of the urinary and reproductive systems. Because these cancers are rare, symptoms can sometimes be mistaken for other conditions.
⚠️ Possible warning signs may include:
• Blood in the urine
• A painless lump or swelling in the groin, sc***um, or abdomen
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Difficulty urinating
• Unexplained weight loss or fatigue
Early detection and prompt evaluation of unusual symptoms are important. If something doesn't feel right, don't ignore it, talk with your healthcare provider.
This July, we honor sarcoma survivors, support those currently fighting, remember loved ones we've lost, and raise awareness about these rare cancers.
