Wellness Wednesday!!
Stored stress. Do you realize that your body stores stress in your fascia? The fascia is a specialized, continuous sheath of fibrous connective tissue. Made mostly of collagen that surrounds and separates every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, and organ in your body.
In order to relieve stress from our body we need to feel safe in all areas of our lives (physical, emotional, financial). Easier said than done. I understand that. But start with some of the following ideas.
● Reduce Stimulants: Cut back on high amounts of caffeine, sugar, and alcohol, which aggravate the nervous system and mimic anxiety.
● Prioritize Sleep: Sleep is the fundamental way the body repairs an overloaded nervous system. Maintain 7-9 hours by winding down without screens.
● Yoga: such as pigeon or child's pose that open up the body and unlock physical tension.
● Breathing: Take two quick, deep breaths in through your nose (one deep breath, then a sharp second inhale to fill the lungs), followed by one long, slow sigh out through your mouth.
● Therapeutic Shaking: Stand with slightly bent knees and gently shake your hands, arms, and then your entire torso. Do this for 1 to 2 minutes.
● Butterfly Hug: Cross your arms over your chest and slowly, rhythmically tap your shoulders to calm your brain.
● Grounding: go outside and walk barefoot in the grass for 10-20 minutes. Or just lay down in it and let your body reset.
● Massage: to relax your body particularly the areas with he most tension.
● Reflexology: starts the relaxation in the feet and goes throughout the entire body inside and out. (This is one of my favorite way to reset myself)
