Samantha Nicole Howard, 63, of Bloomington, passed away on October 21st, 2026.

She was born on January 21st, 1963, in Kokomo, IN, to David and Virginia Bryan.

In 2002, she married James Howard, and together they shared 24 years of love, family, and adventure. She was a devoted grandmother who was known for spoiling her grandkids with love, gifts, and Pokemon cards. She loved the Lord and always kept her grandkids in her prayers.
She is survived by spouse James Howard, children David and Kristina Drabenstot, and grandchildren Jericho and Sawyer Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Virginia Bryan. May she rest in peace.

William Carl (Bill) Lloyd passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026. He was born November 8, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Norman and Jeannette (Freyn) Lloyd.

After graduating from Southport high school in 1959, Bill arrived in Bloomington, Indiana in 1961 and received his undergraduate degree with distinction from the Indiana University School of Business in 1964. He then combined studies for a law degree and an MBA from Indiana University, receiving his JD in 1967 and his MBA a year later. He was especially proud of his selection to the Indiana Law Journal; an honor offered to a select number of outstanding law students.

Upon graduation Bill joined the Ferguson law firm in Bloomington and became deputy prosecutor for Monroe County where he worked until 1972.

In 1972, Bill accepted the position of administrative assistant to Indiana Governor Edgar D. Whitcomb. This role led to his position as executive assistant to Indiana Governor Otis R. Bowen, MD, from January 1973 to June 1978 where he served as the liaison between the governor and the secretary of state, the attorney general and other departments such as Revenue and State Board of Accounts.

Following his public service, he partnered to create the Ferguson, Ferguson and Lloyd law firm where he worked for more than 20 years. He served as president of the Monroe County Bar Association in 1990. Bill then established his own personal injury practice, Bill Lloyd and Associates...

Larry Dean Jacobs, 73, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026.

Larry was born on June 28, 1953, to Raymond Wesley Jacobs and Mary Joan (Stafford) Jacobs. On February 4, 1972, he married the love of his life, Deborah Carol (Trader) Jacobs. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage before her passing on May 26, 2022.

Larry proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1986. Following his military service, he worked as a tool maker and mechanic at Midland Cut Stone for 25 years, retiring as a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Previously a member of the Carpenters Union.

A hardworking man who took pride in what he could accomplish with his hands, Larry understood the value of dedication, perseverance, and an honest day's work. These were values he worked hard to instill in his children. He enjoyed sharpening knives and took pride in his skills, but his greatest pride was always his family. Whether it was spending time supporting everyone in their individual interests or teasing them to embarrassment. Larry loved to joke with everyone.

Larry found his greatest joy in watching his family grow and knowing he could be there to support the people he loved. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, never hesitating to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. Janet DeNardo was born on January 30, 1951, to Joseph and Bette DeNardo. Growing up in a small Midwestern town Jan was a typical tomboy, playing sandlot baseball and basketball. She was an excellent athlete who excelled at everything that she played. After graduation from George Rogers Clark High School in 1969 she was uncertain what college to attend until a few of her high school friends convinced her to enroll at Indiana University. At Indiana she played softball and basketball. One day she happened to be walking on campus and noticed a few women playing what looked like hockey on grass. Intrigued, she asked what sport this was and found out it was field hockey which, at the time, was more of a club sport at IU. She decided to try out for the team and earned a spot. Even though she had never played, she became an excellent player and a wonderful teammate. In all Jan won nine athletic letters during her time at IU.

Late in her senior year she was walking in the student union and was approached by a couple of Navy recruiters who after a couple of hours of talk, convinced Jan to apply for Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS). A few months later she reported to OCS in Newport, RI, thus beginning her Navy career. It was at OCS that she met her future husband, Devin Chew, also a Navy Officer Candidate. Timothy Dale Brown, age 72, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026. He was born in Bremerton, WA on September 27, 1954, to Sylvester and Donna Brown. Tim was a graduate of Indiana University. He spent 26 years working for and retired from General Electric in Bloomington, IN. Tim was also a veteran of the United States Navy.

Tim is survived by his wife, Irene Pintin Brown; children, Dawn Marie Pintin Brown and Charles Jhurrome Pintin Brown; brother, Charles Brown; stepbrother, David Church; and in-laws, Romeo and Juliet Pintin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Donna and his stepsister, Debbie Church.
Tim was an avid fan of the TV show Firefly. Despite being a one-season show it spawned a number of spin off comics, a movie, and books. He credited the movie Serenity with giving him a new lease on life when it was released in 2005..

After that he gathered a group of similarly-minded fans -- known as Browncoats - and started the Browncoats Backwoods Bash in 2008. The annual cookout, get-together, fan auction and marketplace was a fundraiser for Middleway House in Bloomington and has, over the last 20 years, raised thousands of dollars.

Known to the attendees as “The Captain” Tim was a persuasive recruiter, finding fans everywhere he went and usually pressing them into volunteering to help. The larger national fandom knew Tim as an unrelenting cheerleader for the show and the fans.

Daniel “Danny” Lewis Butcher, age 70, passed away at IU Health Bedford on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bloomington, IN on December 26, 1955, to Orval and Mary Butcher. Danny spent over 50 years working for quarries, with 41 of those years being at Victor Oolitic Stone Company in Oolitic, IN.

Danny was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and any other activity outdoors. He also was an avid cattle farmer of over 42 years. His favorite TV programs to watch were Westerns. Danny was a member of Bartlettsville Christian Church.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmon Ann (Axsom) Butcher; parents, Orvale and Mary Butcher; brother, Roger Butcher; sister, Karen Prince; and in-laws, Perry and Martha Axsom.

Danny is survived by his son, Danny (Amanda) Butcher; grandkids, Cody (McKinzie Wigley) Butcher, Colton Butcher, and Josie Butcher; brother David (Twyla) Butcher; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home (4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN 47401) on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 12-2pm with the funeral service following at 2pm.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Bedford for their wonderful care. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Danny’s memory.

Maurice D. Lagneaux (1963-2026)

Maurice D. Lagneaux, 63 of Bloomington, In passed of natural causes on October 8th 2026.

Maurice was born in Cambridge Ohio on May 19th 1963 to Merle M. Lagneaux and Zinda E. Caughlin-Lagneaux (Abrams). The family moved from Cambridge to Memphis, Tennessee before settling in Ellettsville, Indiana in 1971. Maurice attended Edgewood High School from which he graduated in 1981. Upon graduation he joined the United States Army in which he served from 1981 to 1985. After leaving service in the United States Army he was employed by the City of Bloomington Utilities department for more than 30 years from which he retired in 2025.

Maurice was a beloved father, son, brother, best friend and mentor to many. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those with whom he interacted through the lessons and skills that he passed on. He will also be remembered for being the friend who would always be there to help when someone needed it no matter what the circumstance.

Maurice was preceded in death by two sisters, Kimberly and Lisa Lagneaux as well as his father Merle M. Lagneaux. He is survived by his Mother, Zinda E. Caughlin-Lagneaux (Abrams), two sisters, Michele Scott and Colette Kovarik, a daughter Rachele (Andrew) Robinson, three grandchildren, Rylee M Robinson, Amara L Robinson, Andrew L Robinson IV, and his son Anthony Maurice Lagneaux. Susan Kaczmarek Brown (nee Pstragrowski) was the beloved wife of Commander, USN (Ret) Donald Brown, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; the daughter of Leo and Helen Kaczmarek (deceased). the loving mother of Anna Brown, Bloomington, IN, and the loving grandmother of Liam, Balin, and Logan Siler, Bloomington, IN. She was the sister of Christine Weinberger, Reston, VA, and the brother of Ronald Kaczmarek (deceased)
In her career as a Clinical Social Worker, Sue worked with many families. Her specialty and first love were working with adolescents. Dozens and dozens of functioning adults in society today are a testament to her intervention, guidance, and therapy when they were young.
A Mass of Remembrance will be held at St. John the Apostle church on October 21, 2026, at 10:00am. Visitation will begin from 9:00am until the start of mass.

Douglas Robert Yeskie, known to family and friends as Doug, passed away at home in Bloomington, Indiana, on October 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 80.

Doug was born in Bedford, Indiana, on August 6, 1946, to Frances Starr Yeskie and Henry Robert Yeskie. He was raised in Anderson, Indiana, alongside his younger brother, Mark Yeskie.

Doug attended Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, with double minors in American History and Mathematics. After graduating, he married Lynda Blackwell Yeskie of Bloomington, beginning a loving partnership and family life that meant everything to him.

Doug devoted his career to helping young people grow. He spent 11 years at the Bloomington Boys Club, where he encouraged boys through sports, helped them build confidence, and supported them as they grew into young men. He cared deeply about those in his charge, and the impact he made stayed with many of them. He then spent 46 years working at Indiana University Residence Life, serving the university community with dedication.

A sports enthusiast, Doug especially loved IU athletics. He enjoyed coaching baseball, working with young athletes, and playing golf. He was also a devoted supporter of his grandchildren, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on in their sports and school activities. He served for four years in the Army Reserves.

Sebastian Lee Boles, age 25, passed away at his residence in Bloomington, IN, on Monday, October 5, 2026. He was born in Detroit, MI to Rebecca Nagy and Patrick Boles, on July 23, 2001. Sebastian was a graduate of Unionville Elementary and Bloomington High School North. He went on to be a long-term employee with IU Dining at Wright Quad.

Sebastian was a good kid who was funny, kind, fiercely loyal, and deeply devoted to his family. He was always ready and willing to help anyone. He adored his younger brothers and relished his time on the phone talking to his grandmother. Sebastian also enjoyed gaming, spending time outdoors, photography, watching MMA matches with friends, and spending time with his friends and family.

Sebastian is survived by his mother, Rebecca (John Hayes) Nagy; his loving aunt and uncle, Sarah Nagy and Tim Stockton; brothers, Axel Hayes and Rex Hayes; grandmothers, Susan Nagy and Babara Garnett; uncles and aunts, Joe (Cindy), John (Louise), Stehpanie, Renee, and Pam; his beloved cat, Boone; and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Nagy; father, Patrick Boles; and uncle, Ron Nagy.

A celebration of Sebastian’s life will be held on Saturday October 24th, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home (4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN 47401) from 1-3pm.
