💜 3 Things to STOP Saying to Someone Living With Dementia

The way we communicate matters. Sometimes, even well-intentioned words can create frustration, confusion, or unnecessary distress.

❌ “Don’t you remember?”
✅ Instead of testing their memory, offer gentle reminders and provide information without pressure.

❌ “Hurry up!”
✅ “Take your time. I’m right here.” Allow extra time to process information and complete tasks independently when possible.

❌ “Stop acting like that!”
✅ Instead of correcting the behavior, try to understand what’s behind it. Pain, fear, confusion, overstimulation, or an unmet need may be contributing.

Remember: Behavior is communication.

A little patience, reassurance, and understanding can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with dementia. 💜

At Dynasty Haven, we believe compassionate care begins with understanding.

👑💜 Happy National Boss’s Day! 💚

Behind every successful business is a vision, a purpose, and someone determined to bring it all to life!

Today, we’re celebrating the woman behind Dynasty Haven, Danielle Willis, MSW, LSW — Founder, Owner, and the Boss Lady in Care! ✨

For Danielle, leadership is about more than running a business. It’s about creating opportunities, empowering others, leading with compassion, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

The journey of entrepreneurship isn’t always easy, but every challenge, every lesson, and every milestone is part of building something greater.

Because she’s not just building a business. She’s building a LEGACY! 👑

Here’s to leading with purpose, serving with heart, and continuing to raise the standard of care.

💜💚 Happy Boss’s Day to our very own Boss Lady!

We’re investing in our caregivers from the inside out. 💚

Dynasty Haven is excited to share that our owner, Danielle Willis, is now an American Heart Association BLS Instructor.

This is another step toward expanding our in-house training resources and giving our caregivers convenient access to high-quality, hands-on emergency preparedness education.

Our goal has never been simply to staff a shift. We want caregivers who are prepared, confident, and equipped to respond when it matters.

More to come as we continue building Dynasty Haven’s caregiver education and training program. 🫀

We’re closing Primary Care Physicians Week with one of the most important reminders of all:

Quality care is a team effort.

Primary care physicians may help lead and coordinate care, but supporting someone’s health can involve specialists, family members, caregivers, pharmacists, therapists, community organizations, and many others.

Different people. Different roles. One shared goal: helping people live healthier, safer, more independent lives.

To our primary care physicians and all of the healthcare professionals serving our community—thank you. Your knowledge, compassion, collaboration, and commitment make a difference every day. 🩺💜

And to the families and caregivers walking alongside the people they love: you’re an important part of that team, too.

Better care happens together.
Stronger together for a healthier tomorrow. ✨

Family caregivers often know the things a medical chart can’t tell you.

You know when Mom “just isn’t herself.” You notice when Dad starts eating less. You know whether medications are actually being taken, whether mobility has changed, and how your loved one functions once the appointment is over and they’re back home.

That perspective can be incredibly valuable.

With your loved one’s permission and involvement, you can help by keeping information organized, preparing questions, sharing observations, helping track medications and follow-ups, and communicating concerns.

And caregivers—your voice matters, too.

Thank you to the daughters, sons, spouses, relatives, friends, and loved ones helping someone navigate their health every day. 💜💚

You are allowed to ask questions about your healthcare. In fact, you should.

At your next primary care visit, consider asking:

Are my screenings up to date? Are my medications still right for me? What can I do to stay healthy at home? Are there changes I should watch for? Do I need any referrals or follow-ups? What should we focus on before my next visit?

And if you don’t understand an answer, ask again.

Good healthcare should be a conversation—not something happening around you without your involvement.

📌 SAVE these questions before your next appointment or SHARE them with someone you love.

Be informed. Be involved. Be empowered. 💜

Sometimes it isn’t one dramatic event that tells us something has changed.

It’s Mom seeming a little more confused. Dad becoming unsteady. A noticeable change in appetite. Increased fatigue. New pain. Shortness of breath. Changes in mood or daily routines.

Small changes can provide important information about a person’s health.

If you notice something new or unusual, write down what you’re seeing—including when it started and how often it happens—and share it with the appropriate healthcare professional.

Family caregivers often see changes that may not be obvious during a short office visit. Your observations matter.

Early communication can help healthcare providers determine what needs attention.

Prescription medications. Over-the-counter medicines. Vitamins. Supplements.

Your healthcare provider needs to know about ALL of them.

Medication needs can change over time, and regular medication reviews can help identify possible side effects, interactions, duplications, or medications that may no longer be appropriate.

For older adults, symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, weakness, or balance changes are especially important to discuss with a healthcare professional.

Bring your actual medication bottles or an updated list—including the dose and how often you take each one—to your next appointment.

💜 Never stop or change a prescribed medication without talking with the appropriate healthcare professional first.

📌 Save this as a reminder for your next visit.

A better doctor’s appointment can start before you ever walk through the door.

For older adults and family caregivers, being prepared can help make sure important questions get answered and health changes don’t get overlooked.

Before the next appointment, gather your current medication and supplement list, questions or concerns, information about new symptoms or changes, updates from other providers, and any important health records your physician may need.

And write your questions down! It’s easy to forget something once the appointment gets going.

📌 SAVE this post for the next appointment or SHARE it with someone helping manage a loved one’s care.

Preparation helps turn a quick appointment into a more productive conversation. 💜

Your primary care physician is more than the person you see when you’re sick—they can be the home base for your overall health. 🩺

From preventive screenings and chronic condition management to medication oversight, referrals, and conversations about changes you’ve noticed, regular primary care visits can help you stay proactive about your health.

For older adults especially, having a provider who knows your health history can help identify changes early and coordinate the care you may receive from multiple providers.

This Primary Care Physicians Week, we’re starting with a simple reminder: don’t wait until something is wrong to prioritize your health.

💜 Know your provider.
💚 Keep your appointments.
🏡 Stay involved in your care.

Healthier people. Stronger communities. Brighter tomorrows.
