Originally from Coal City, IL, Kaitlyn earned her undergraduate degree from Augustana College and is now in her fourth year at the Illinois College of Optometry. Sheโs joining us for her second externship site as she continues her journey toward becoming an optometrist.
Kaitlynโs interest in optometry started at a young age. Growing up nearsighted, she always enjoyed her visits to her optometrist and knew she wanted a career in medicine. Those early experiences helped inspire her to pursue optometry - and now she gets to help others experience better vision, too!
Her favorite part of optometry is finding ways to make peopleโs lives better and easier by helping them see better. She has a particular interest in ocular disease, low vision and vision rehabilitation, especially helping patients who may not be able to achieve 20/20 vision find ways to maximize the vision they do have.
