There is a lot of talk about workforce development, career pathways, and talent pipelines, and we believe it is past time for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to be considered in those conversations.

For more than 10 years, EGTI has been here to help students build skills for real workplaces in areas like healthcare, hospitality, food service, inventory distribution, and manufacturing.

✅ Recognizing talent in all people is a foundational part of building a stronger Indiana workforce.

Let’s talk about the Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE)! 📚🎒

• Who qualifies? Anyone under age 22 who is regularly attending school, college, or a technical training program.
• The Perk: SSA won’t count most of your earnings against your benefits.
• The Limits: You can exclude up to $2,410 per month (up to a max of $9,730 per year)!

⚠️ Critical step: This doesn’t happen automatically. You must actively report your student status and your gross monthly wages directly to Social Security to keep your full check.

Pass this along to a student who needs to hear it! What questions do you have about SEIE?

[Video Description: Brady, a community partner work incentive coordinator and research associate at the Center on Community Living and Careers, emphasizes the importance of the Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE). He explains how this work incentive is designed for students who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), yet many transition-aged youth and their support teams are often unaware of it. He explains how to determine eligibility for the SEIE and shares how this vital incentive allows individuals to keep more of their hard-earned wages while still receiving their monthly SSI benefits. This video is a quick introduction to the resources available for those who want to work while maintaining their financial safety net.]

In collaboration with the Division of Disability, Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DDARS), Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services, we at the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC) invite you to attend the following webinar: "Resources and Updates: Benefits and Financial Planning Services for Individuals with Disabilities."

When: Wednesday, June 24, 2026
Time: 2-3 p.m. EDT

Register today: go.iu.edu/sVuA5i

This webinar will include:
• Highlights of the enhancements and modifications to DDARS’ VR Benefits and Financial Planning (BFP) Services, available to VR participants.
• An overview of statewide resources and tools available to support job seekers or potential job seekers with disabilities to navigate employment and benefits (e.g., SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and other supports).

This webinar is ideal for VR participants and other individuals with disabilities, families, case managers, employment specialists, DDARS staff, and other stakeholders who support and serve individuals with disabilities.

A key goal of the VR program is to improve competitive, integrated employment for individuals with disabilities. Benefits and financial planning are critical to supporting this goal. The enhancements and modifications to VR BFP services aim to accomplish the following:

• Simplify and streamline VR benefits planning service provision
• Improve consistency around benefits and work incentives counseling that encourages individuals to maximize employment earnings while reducing misinformation and fears
• Reduce duplication and better leverage available benefits planning resources
• Improve capacity for timely provision of benefits and work incentive counseling services
• Support a continuum of benefits planning services, before and after employment

We hope you can join us!
