Low vision aid spotlight: E-scoop glasses

E-scoop glasses are specialized lenses designed to maximize remaining vision, particularly for individuals with macular degeneration who experience problems with central vision.

These lenses work by enhancing an image and shifting it to an undamaged part of the retina. This is accomplished through 5 distinct optical features:
โ˜‘ Custom tint
โ˜‘ Anti-reflective coating
โ˜‘ Special lens thickness
โ˜‘ Base curve
โ˜‘ Base up prism

E-Scoop glasses are one of the tools in our toolkit to help patients make the most of their remaining vision.

You might not think about your side visionโ€ฆuntil it starts to change.

Peripheral vision helps you notice steps, furniture, people, and other obstacles without turning your head. When that vision is limited, everyday movement can become more difficult.

In our latest article, we explore what causes peripheral vision loss, how it affects mobility, and simple home and lifestyle strategies that can help improve safety and reduce fall risk.
