Next week is Men’s Health Week. It is a time to focus on the well being of men and boys and that includes mental health, not just physical health. While doctor visits and exercise matter, emotional health is just as essential.

Too often, men are encouraged to “push through” or keep their struggles to themselves. But seeking support is a sign of courage and strength. Let’s continue breaking the stigma together, because your mental health matters.

June is PTSD Awareness Month. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects many individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. These experiences can leave lasting emotional and psychological impacts that are often unseen.

We recognize the courage it takes to ask for help and the importance of meeting one another with compassion, understanding, and support. No one should have to navigate the effects of trauma alone.

This month, we invite you to learn more about PTSD, help reduce stigma, and stand in solidarity with those in our community who are healing and seeking hope.

As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. This day of remembrance also invites us to care for one another, especially for those carrying grief, trauma, or unseen wounds.

At Catholic Charities Bloomington, we recognize the importance of mental health and the healing power of compassion, support, and community. On Memorial Day, we remember the fallen, hold their families in prayer, and recommit ourselves to supporting mental and emotional well being for all.

Mother’s Day can stir up many emotions, grief, longing, stress, or loneliness. If this season is difficult for you, please know you are not alone, and your feelings are valid.

Here are a few gentle ways to care for yourself this Mother’s Day:
-Give yourself permission to feel whatever comes up, without judgment
-Set boundaries that protect your heart
-Spend the day in a way that brings you peace (quiet time, prayer, a walk, or time with trusted loved ones)
-Reach out for support from a friend, family member, or counselor
-Hold space for remembrance, healing, and hope

We believe that healthy boundaries are an essential part of emotional well being and strong relationships. Boundaries help us protect our time, our energy, and our sense of self. They allow us to say “yes” with intention and “no” without guilt. And they create space for healthier communication, deeper connection, and greater peace in our daily lives.

Setting boundaries isn’t about pushing people away—it’s about caring for yourself in a way that helps you show up with clarity and compassion. Whether it's managing work stress, navigating family dynamics, or supporting your own mental health, boundaries are an act of love for yourself and others.

If you or someone you know could benefit from support in building healthier patterns, our therapists are here to help. Learn more at ccbin.org.
