Positive Link History:
Positive Link (PL) has been walking this path with our community since 1991. We have experienced the many lows, but also the many highs. HIV is not the same disease it was in the early nineties, yet a cure remains elusive. We have also changed: helping infected clients live rather than helping them prepare to die; engaging in extensive and widespread education and testing to ensure early intervention for those who do not know of their infection; responding to the changing demographics of our community to ensure that we are a part of the community, not an outside force with its own agenda. We have learned that to truly serve our community we must be a part of the community. That is where our story truly begins. In the mid-eighties, a small group formed in Bloomington to provide support to those living with HIV. Those individuals did not know the cause, did not how it was transmitted, and did not know what exactly to do. But they knew they needed to help. From this group sprang an ongoing support group facilitated by the community mental health center. After passage of the Ryan White CARE Act in 1990, PL was begun in 1991 under the auspices of the Public Health Nursing Association and began provision of HIV care coordination services. In 1996 PL merged into the Community Health (CH) Department at IU Health Bloomington Hospital and has since grown to include a broad continuum of services.

This Pride month, we celebrate and the fundraising and advocacy efforts they have been doing for decades. They have raised over $3 million for those living with and affected by HIV and don't seem to be stopping. Thank you, thank you!

Today, more tools than ever are available to prevent HIV. You can use strategies such as limiting your number of s*xual partners, using condoms the right way every time you have s*x, never sharing needles and abstinence (not having s*x). You may also be able to take advantage of newer HIV prevention...

"No one is free until we are all free." — Fannie Lou Hamer
This Juneteenth, we reflect on the historical roots of freedom and the work that still lies ahead to achieve true justice—especially in healthcare. Health equity is a fundamental piece of liberation. Black and brown communities continue to experience disproportionate barriers to HIV care, prevention, and overall health resources.
At Positive Link, we remain deeply committed to breaking down those barriers by providing accessible, inclusive, and stigma-free care, PrEP services, and support. Today, we celebrate progress, honor the culture, and recommit to the fight for equity for all.

It’s International Day for Countering Hate Speech. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in an effort to raise global awareness about the escalating dangers of hate speech and to promote tolerance, human rights and intercultural dialogue.
Speaking out against hate speech can feel daunting, particularly when it arises in everyday interactions or in the workplace. Many people hesitate to respond out of concern it might escalate the situation or lead to backlash. However, staying silent can give harmful language and attitudes the space to grow.

Communities came together to support Mildred and Richard Loving's right to get married as an in*******al couple. Their Supreme Court case struck down all U.S. laws against in*******al marriage on June 12, 1967. Today, communities come together on the anniversary of their case, known as Loving Day. Now a global tradition, it's a day of visibility, education, and community.
