Let’s talk about those ultrasound keepsakes 👶🏼♥️
Hi! I’m Stefanie, the office manager and licensed phlebotomist here at Enlightened 4D Imaging.
Recently, I came across some of my daughter’s ultrasound pictures from 2007, and I wanted to share what they look like today.
I know those thermal ultrasound prints are super popular right now for pregnancy announcements, and I get it! They make for the cutest pictures when you’re holding up your baby’s ultrasound. But here’s what can happen to them over time.
These pictures have been kept in a baby book and stored indoors this entire time, away from the elements. And as you can see, some have completely faded away, some have mostly faded away, and others have white streaks and lines where the image has deteriorated. Unfortunately, the same thing happened to my son’s ultrasound pictures from 2010, too. I’ve lost the majority of my original ultrasound pictures over the years 😢
I know most people don’t think about what these pictures will look like 15 or 20 years from now, but it’s something to think about. These little pictures might not seem like a big deal right now, but they’ll be a reminder of just how tiny your baby once was.
Because someday, your first baby will have just graduated high school, and you’ll want to look back at those pictures and cry a little, remembering when they were still growing in your belly. (Don’t ask me how I know… I’m still not ok 😬)
This is one of the reasons we print our keepsake ultrasound pictures on actual photo paper instead of thermal paper. Thermal prints can fade over time, and these are memories you’ll want to hold onto.
And if you’re thinking, “But I want those cute thermal pictures for my pregnancy announcement!”
You can still get those adorable announcement pictures with our prints. We print them in a standard 4x6 size, so you can tape them together on the back to make a long strip for your announcement!
So you can get those amazing ultrasound images AND have cute pictures for your announcement, without having to choose one over the other!
