This is My Why. 💜
"I grew up with a mom who was incredibly nurturing. She stayed home with my sisters, brother, and me until I was in fifth grade. When I reached fifth grade, she made the decision to go back to school to become a nurse. During those four years, there were more than a handful of days when we would go to class with her. At the time, I didn't fully understand how much she was carrying—working, raising four kids, and putting herself through school. Looking back now, I realize how hard that must have been. But I never saw her crack. After she graduated and started working in a nursing home, we would often go there with her too. Over the years, she served in many roles—from floor nurse to Director of Nursing and everything in between. Through it all, she remained the same compassionate, steady person. I grew up with a mom who cared about how I was feeling. She cared about how my day went, whether I had eaten, whether I was clean, whether I was taken care of, and whether I was happy. I also watched her extend that same level of care, compassion, and love to the people she served. I saw residents' and clients' faces light up when she walked into a room. I listened to their inside jokes and watched her comfort families during difficult moments. She made people feel seen, valued, loved, and genuinely cared for—the same way she made my siblings and me feel.
Because of her, I grew up understanding that the compassion, care, and love we pour into others matter. I learned at a young age that treating people the way you want to be treated isn't just a saying, it's something that can truly impact someone's life.
With all of that being said, my "why" is simple: I care. I care about how people feel. I care about their quality of life. I care that people know they have someone, especially when they feel like they have no one. I care about making sure those who need love, support, and compassion receive it. Throughout my career, I've worked in places that focused on revenue rather than people. I've worked alongside individuals who did the bare minimum and called it care. Those experiences only reinforced what I learned growing up—that people deserve more than that.
That is why I am proud to be part of a company, SYNERGY HomeCare of Central IL, that has a genuine commitment to others. SYNERGY HomeCare and my colleagues continually strive to improve quality of life through higher standards, better practices, and a willingness to keep growing and evolving. I truly enjoy being able to connect with people and help in whatever capacity I can. Knowing that I can make even a small difference in someone's day, comfort, or quality of life is My WHY."
