I finished Mortal End by Maddie Rose Andry, book one in An Opera of Cursed and Fated Vampires series, and I’m giving it 4 stars. 🩸📚

This is an open-door vampire romance and definitely feels like a foundational first book. It spends time building the world, introducing the characters, and setting up the bigger story that will continue through the series.

Since this is a 7-book series, book one is doing a lot of groundwork. It gives you curses, fate, vampire lore, romance, and character dynamics that feel like they are only going to get deeper from here.

Book 2, CHAOS Resurrected, and book 3, Divine Inception, are out now, and all three are free on Kindle Unlimited!

A solid start to the series, and I’m curious to see what happens next. 🖤🔥

Gothic—A subgenre of Horror in the Cursed and Fated Vampires World

The gore is not just gratuitous in the Cursed and Fated Vampires world, it’s symbolic. The Gothic genre is well known for diving deep into the human psyche. One of the things I love about diving into horror and Gothic themes is the exploration into the subconscious mind, and what it means to walk the human journey.

I love digging into the dual nature between our primal instincts filled with dark desires and our need for survival while battling with the polarity between good and evil—light versus dark—or the concept of the righteous versus the wicked.

Through the scope of Gothic literature, a paradox happens were the familiar becomes the strange, and I get to unveil what potentially lies beneath the mundane. And this right here, is where beauty clashes with violence while death and life go to war within the series of the Cursed and Fated Vampires.

Why my book may not be for you…

As a gothic urban romantasy, The Cursed and Fated Vampires world is a seven book series with a large cast of characters and multi-layered realms, combining many mythologies and genres. I have the entire series outlined and many threads run through all the books… you won’t have all the answers in the first few books (although you will have a lot of ‘eggs’ to collect along the way).

If you’re looking for a quick read, this probably isn’t the book or series for you. At least not until all seven books are out… then you can binge it!

Several readers have commented on how they missed things on their first read that they uncovered on re-reading it… This is part of the EPIC FANTASY component. There are layers and depth. I absolutely love weaving a story and I hope you’ll go on this journey with me!

Feral Friday Phenice and Emil

“I need you, Emil.” I turned around, climbing into his lap as I wrapped my legs around his waist. His rock-hard cöck told me just how much he needed me.

He cupped my face in his hands. “One step at a time.”

His hands ran over my breasts and down my waist so he could pick me up. He lifted me to the ledge by the bathtub, effectively knocking all of the products onto the floor. A small chuckle bubbled out of me.

“Spread your legs for me, Dove—now.” And just like that, I almost came from his commanding tone. I did as he demanded, giving him access to my dripping core while leaning my back to the cold tiles behind me.

“Perfect.” Then he descended.

A Writer’s Lock-in…

This last week I did a writing lock-in. It was an experiment to see if I could be more productive without the daily interruptions.

Here’s some of what I discovered:
My personal medical condition follows me everywhere. You’d think this was obvious, but it still kicks my ass.
If I could have any superpower, it would be: nullification. Dante’s magic is flipping fantastic. His magic has always fascinated me, and I discovered more reasons why. To neutralize the impact the outside world has on me would solve so many issues for this author!
Mental conditioning is f*cking real. I knew this of course, but learning ways it was impacting my writing was profound. Even though I knew there was no one to interpret me, I kept looking up for them and stopping. For years I’ve stopped and started to meet the needs/demands of others. The solution: when I started to struggle in my hotel room I went to a local bakery/restaurant to emulate how things felt at home. I sat with a salad, French fries (my favorite btw), and hot green tea. I wrote more words at that table than in my hotel room.
My brain processes so much information and emotion to create my written works—writing for multiple days in a row isn’t realistic for me. I don’t write in small chunks, for this reason, I need time to recover.
What does this mean? Planning a trip to write three days in a row doesn’t work with how my brain, heart, and soul works when creating my stories. It’s funny as a proclaimed plotter to have to be more of a pantser when it comes to 𝓌𝒽ℯ𝓃 I sit down to write the plotted stories! 😂
