There is no “perfect” way to labor.

Some people move constantly.
Some get quiet and inward.
Some laugh between contractions.
Some need reassurance every few minutes.

Birth looks different for everyone, and that's okay 🤍

A reminder for anyone preparing for birth:
You do not have to earn rest.

Rest during pregnancy is productive.
Rest postpartum is necessary.
Rest is needed for a healthy pregnancy and postpartum.

In a world that often tells parents to “bounce back,” we want to remind families that slowing down and receiving support is something to be proud of, not guilty for.

☀️ The summer heat has officially come! And with the heat is the reminder that staying hydrated during pregnancy matters.

Dehydration in pregnancy can sometimes contribute to:
• Headaches
• Dizziness
• Fainting
• Worse nausea or throwing up
• Braxton Hicks contractions
• Fatigue

A good water bottle becomes basically a pregnancy accessory, so you can use this is as your excuse to get that cute new water bottle you have had your eye on 😉

🤍 Recovery after birth takes time.

Even after an uncomplicated birth, healing is still happening physically, emotionally, and mentally. Postpartum is not something you’re meant to “bounce back” from overnight.

One helpful guideline many families have heard of is the 5-5-5 rule:
• 5 days in your bed
• 5 days on the bed
• 5 days around the bed

Another variation can be the 2-2-2 rule:
• 2 weeks in and around your bed
• 2 weeks in and around your home
• 2 weeks in and around your community

This gentle progression encourages slowing down, resting, and allowing your body time to heal in the early postpartum period.

Other postpartum recovery reminders:
• Stay hydrated and nourished
• Accept help when it’s offered and ask for help when you need it
• Prioritize rest whenever possible
• Keep essential items within reach
• Use peri bottles, sitz baths, witch hazel, and other comfort measures as needed
• Limit unnecessary stairs, lifting, and overexertion early on
• Talk openly about your emotions and mental health
• Give yourself grace as you adjust to a completely new season
• Enjoy alllllll the baby snuggles!

Healing is not linear, and every postpartum experience looks different. You deserve support too. 🤍

We’ve been excitedly working on ongoing updates and renovations at the Birth Center, and it’s been such a meaningful reminder of how committed we are to the future of this space and the families we serve. 🤍

Every improvement we make is with long-term growth, comfort, and community in mind. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from families, staff, and our community as we continue building a space where people feel safe, cared for, and truly at home during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

We’re proud of the care we provide, excited for what’s ahead, and looking forward to serving families in our community for many years to come. ✨

🤰 What is the “golden hour”?

The golden hour refers to the first hour after birth when uninterrupted bonding, skin-to-skin, and feeding are encouraged whenever possible. We understand how important this time is, and make sure to do everything possible to ensure you have a golden hour with the least interruptions possible. And the best part of skin-to-skin, is it can be done with either parent!

This time can support:
• Bonding
• Breastfeeding
• Regulation for baby
• A calmer transition after birth

Movement and positioning aren’t just for comfort—they’re functional tools that support how labor unfolds.

Different positions can:
• Help baby rotate into a more optimal position for birth
• Open different areas of the pelvis to create more space
• Use gravity to support baby’s descent
• Shift pressure and change how sensations are experienced

Even small changes—like standing, leaning forward, hands-and-knees, or side-lying—can make a noticeable difference in how labor progresses.

Your body often instinctively moves in ways that help—our role is to support that, offer guidance when needed, and help you find what works best in the moment 🤍
