Dementia Friendly Susquehanna Valley DFSV's vision is to provide education & support to those in our area caring for those with dementia.

The mission of DFSV is to bring dementia awareness to our region through education, advocacy and volunteer engagement in order to better support those living with dementia and their caregivers. Specifically, DFSV provides education opportunities about dementia in an effort to inform the community at large, reduce the stigma associated with dementia, bring awareness to existing community resources and create new resources to better serve those living with dementia and their caregivers.

No one should have to navigate the journey of Alzheimerโ€™s or dementia alone.
Dementia Friendly Susquehanna Valley is pleased to announce a new Alzheimerโ€™s & Dementia Support Group for Northumberland County, beginning Thursday, August 27th, and meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month moving forward.
Led by Melissa Sauger, MSW, this group will offer a welcoming and supportive place to:

๐Ÿ’œ Talk openly about challenges and experiences
๐Ÿ’œ Explore ways of coping and navigating difficult situations
๐Ÿ’œ Learn about valuable community resources
๐Ÿ’œ Build a stronger support system
Whether you are a caregiver, family member, friend, or someone supporting a person living with dementia, you are welcome.

The Visiting Angels Shoe Drive for a Cause has officially wrapped up, and we are so proud to share that Kreisher Marshall & Associates collected an incredible 193 pairs of shoes, weighing a total of 209.84 pounds! ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ๐Ÿ‘
All proceeds from the shoe drive benefit the Walk to End Alzheimerโ€™s, helping support the Alzheimerโ€™s Association and its mission to make a difference for those affected by Alzheimerโ€™s and dementia.
Our Elder Care Coordinator, Elaine Spicher, and Outreach and Community Liaison, Michelle Kozak, were honored to attend the celebration of a storage unit filled with shoes collected throughout the community! ๐Ÿ’œ

For those living with Dementia or Alzheimerโ€™s, simple traditions can bring the most joyโ€”watching fireworks from a safe distance, enjoying a picnic with familiar foods, or listening to classic patriotic songsโค๏ธ
