There is a story behind every uniform.
At Exculta Health + Wellness, we believe those stories deserve to be heard.

As part of our Beyond the Badge and Boots: Stories Behind the Service project, we're looking for veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and the families who stand beside them to share their experiences.

Whether your story is one of service, sacrifice, resilience, healing, loss, hope, or simply the everyday moments that shaped your life, we want to help preserve it.

Stories can be shared as video interviews, written interviews, and also anonymously, if you prefer.

You don't have to be a decorated hero or have served overseas. Every experience matters, because every story helps our community better understand the people behind the uniform.

This project is made possible through the generous support of Missouri Humanities through the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund, and we're honored to help preserve these stories for generations to come.

At Exculta Health, our SAFE Surrender Program offers veterans, first responders, and their families a confidential, compassionate option for temporarily storing fi****ms during times of personal crisis.

The program is built on one simple truth: creating time and space during a difficult moment can save a life.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, you don't have to navigate it alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, and having a plan in place can make all the difference.

We are excited to welcome and introduce one of our newest team members! ✨️

Genevieve Lu is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor whose dedication to mental health is deeply rooted in her family's legacy of military service. As the proud daughter of a U.S. Army veteran and a descendant of a long line of military personnel and veterans, Genevieve developed an early appreciation for resilience, adaptability, and the unique experiences of military-connected families. Her upbringing took her from Washington State to Germany, Hawaiʻi, and the communities surrounding the nation's capital, shaping her multicultural perspective and commitment to serving diverse populations.

A product of her family's perseverance and determination, Genevieve became the first person in her family to earn a master's degree and pursue a career in mental health. She officially launched her private practice, Resilient Human Spirit Counseling Services, LLC, in Maryland in September of 2025. Passionate about challenging stigma and increasing access to compassionate care, she provides culturally competent, specialized therapy for individuals navigating grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person-centered approaches, Genevieve creates a supportive, collaborative environment where clients can build resilience, gain insight, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Today, we're highlighting Answering the Call, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting first responders during times of crisis through financial assistance, community support, and resources that help them navigate life's unexpected challenges. Their mission to ensure no first responder has to face hardship alone closely aligns with our commitment to promoting the mental health and well-being of those who serve our communities.
