Focusing on the positives in life will actually rewire your brain to find positivity.

There can be a lot of negatives in concussion recovery. Don’t overlook the small victories.

Small victories achieved over time leads to big wins.

YOU’RE NOT LAZY.

One of the hardest parts of concussion recovery is that people often judge recovery by what they can see.

They see you go to work.
They see you answer the text.
They see you show up.

What they don’t see is the effort it took to do those things.

The fatigue.
The symptom management.
The constant calculations.
The energy spent just trying to appear “normal.”

Eventually, many people start asking:

“What’s wrong with me?”

But maybe that’s the wrong question.

A better question might be:

“What is my brain trying to tell me?”

Fatigue isn’t weakness.
Fatigue isn’t failure.
Fatigue isn’t laziness.

Fatigue is information.

Save this for the days you need the reminder.

Read this if you’re wondering whether you’re making progress.

Recovery isn’t always obvious when you’re living it every day.

You may still be struggling.
You may still have symptoms.
You may still have hard days.

But that doesn’t mean you’re stuck.

The person you miss is still in there.

đź’™ Save this for the days you need the reminder.

The concussion recovery puzzle is difficult. Especially if you’re not looking at all or the pieces.

We need to assess how the pieces fit together to form the bigger puzzle. Not a the pieces individually.

Leaving out, or ignoring pieces, will make it impossible to put the full puzzle back together.

Nobody talks enough about the identity shift that can happen after a concussion.

You go from being the person who could do everything…

To the person who has to think about everything.

Work.
School.
Parenting.
Exercise.
Social events.

The harder we try to push through symptoms, the more disconnected we can feel from the version of ourselves we’re trying to get back to.

And that can be one of the most difficult parts of recovery.

If this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone.

Recovery isn’t just about reducing symptoms.
It’s about rebuilding confidence, trust, and identity.

Guilt leads to increased stress. Increased stress leads to more symptoms.
More symptoms leads to isolation.

Beware The “Concussion Expert”

Social media is free to EVERYONE.

There are very few restrictions on the information you can share.

When looking for concussion information, be sure you’re getting it from someone with credibility.

Anyone can call themselves a “concussion expert” so be sure to do your due diligence when looking for information!

🧩 Concussion recovery can feel like trying to complete a puzzle without ever seeing the picture on the box.

You know something is wrong.

You know you don’t feel like yourself.

But sometimes it’s hard to explain what you’re experiencing to the people around you.

The headaches.

The fatigue.

The brain fog.

The dizziness.

The anxiety.

When others can’t see what you’re carrying, recovery can feel incredibly lonely.

But you’re not making it up.

You’re not failing.

And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Sometimes the missing piece isn’t more effort.

It’s education.
It’s guidance.
It’s support.
It’s understanding.

One piece at a time, the picture becomes clearer.

đź’™ If this resonated with you, save it for later.

đź’™ If someone in your life is struggling after a concussion, send it to them.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can tell someone is:

“You are not alone.”
