US maternity wards face wave of closures as Medicaid cuts kick in, connects four issues that deserve attention: Medicaid funding, maternity ward closures, maternity care deserts, and disruptions to maternal health data collection.

The central concern is that maternity care was already difficult to access in many communities. Federal funding reductions could make those gaps worse, while disruptions to PRAMS could make the consequences harder to measure.
