Palo Verde Hospital has been awarded a $3 million emergency grant through Assembly Bill 108 to help support rural hospitals facing financial distress and risk of closure.

This critical funding will help strengthen hospital services as we work toward long-term sustainability and support continued access to quality health care for residents of the Palo Verde Valley and surrounding communities.

“This emergency grant funding is a critical step toward preserving access to health care for the residents of the Palo Verde Valley and surrounding communities,” said Carmela Garnica, President of the Palo Verde Healthcare District Board of Directors.

We are grateful for state leaders, the City of Blythe, the County of Riverside, and Riverside University Health System for their continued support and commitment to our community.

During this week's Palo Verde Healthcare District Board meeting, Dr. Michael Mesisca, Interim Medical Director, provided an update on the transition to Vituity emergency department physicians.

In the weeks since the transition, Palo Verde Hospital has seen positive feedback from patients and the community as efforts to strengthen Emergency Department services continue.

Have you noticed some construction happening around Palo Verde Hospital? Check out some of these photos showing the before, during and after of a full roof replacement at the hospital which is now complete. Crews stripped the old roofing, installed new decking and finished the surface.

The Board recognized former Board members Rosalie Rowell and Dr. David Brooks for their years of dedication and service to the District. 👏

All items were approved and actions focused on:
• Addressing urgent facility and infrastructure repairs
• Supporting continuity of hospital operations and services
• Stabilizing financial operations and administrative processes
• Strengthening governance through updated policies, bylaws, and a Code of Conduct

As Sandra Anaya’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Palo Verde Hospital comes to a close, leadership from Riverside University Health System Medical Center and Clinics will continue overseeing hospital operations under the current 180-day Management Services Agreement with the Palo Verde Healthcare District.
